Two chefs who combine their forces, exchange their knowledge, and express this through their dishes. Executive chefs Sander de Jonge and Jeroen Tanis speak in flavors and Restaurant Mezger is their culinary adventure.
Nice addition to the restaurants on Walcheren. Very friendly welcome in the restaurant that has a nice atmosphere, even on a rainy night. Nice dishes with tasteful combinations of fresh materials. You can pick a number of courses to eat and you can pick them from the a la carte menu. The price is fair. The wine arrangement was excellent. If you take the cheese you can select your own from a wide choice that has something for everyone. Chairs are very comfortable. Reservation in the weekends is recommendable.

Bart Grahame en Yori Gresel verwelkomen u i
Wonderful food; great presentation but not over-fancy. Lovely people and very pleasant service. We choose 3 courses from set menu with recommended glasses of wine. And beautiful location in tiny small historical village of St Anna ter Muiden, literally on Belgium-Netherlands border. This restaurant is a pearl in the crown of Zeeuws Vlaanderen.

First off, the service was abyssmal...never have I experienced such terrible service at a restaurant of such supposed caliber. Mistakes, delays, arguing, negligence and general disregard were the theme.Example 1: Most 3 star restaurants show you(guide/escort) you to the toilets when needed. Not here, they sort of pointed me in the general direction. Not being from NL, I did not quite understand and ended up in the ladies toilet! Server assistants got my requests wrong; dirty plates were left far too long; ingredients missing from a dish and when I mentioned it, I was argued with and basically brushed off...zero concern.Lots of little things were huge misses: the server did not even bother to discuss the wine pairing option with me...rather he just dropped an encyclopedia of wines on me. That was disturbing in of itself...there should be a proper sommelier to speak to the wines!!! During the meal, some times I got a decent description of what was being served, other times a very basic comment.Ultimately, I chose to leave...less than mid way. The food I did have was just ok. The wine pairing was juvenile and thoughtless.Take this tip: go to The Bishop in Leiden or Senses in Ams and you will have a far better experience and food!!!

Cosy small restaurant with nice dishes and friendly atmosphere. The original thing is that there is no menu, so don't expect to order a specific dish for you. On the contrary, dinner starts, and in the course of time you are served with dishes that the are the chef's choice over a period of 2-3 hours in total. Each serving round contains a limited number of dishes with small portions of different types of food (appetisers, fish, chicken, salads etc.), but as there are 6-7 rounds in total (including desert), the total quantity of food that is served is more than enough for an average person. Most of the dishes were Spanish-Mediterranean with some local ones included as well. The service is excellent, very friendly and welcoming. In general we had a very nice dinner and we would definitely recommend it.

Wij brengen u mooie verrassende gerechten me
Exploring Middelburg we decided to follow TA recommendations and try the Gespleten Arent. We were not disappointed. We arrived about 10 min before their official opening time (6:00pm) but were welcomed inside anyway. We started with a cava/ginger beer aperitif (I was sold at "ginger beer") along with several amuses. We decided on the 3 course menu salomon/beef/lychee. We also asked if, instead of the full wine arrangement, we could have half glasses of the appropriate wine with the first & second courses - again no problem. The food was great. Interesting twists on the base ingredient of each course - tasty, very well made and presented while not pretentious. Portion size appropriate for fine dining.Service was attentive, friendly but unobtrusive. Professional. All in all a memorable meal for 2 for EUR 55 pp incl drinks and a tip.Good value we thought. We'll be back.

The restaurant has what you expect. Courteous reception, nice atmosphere, surprising taste combinations, fresh materials from the region and some nice wines to go with it and mostly in good combination with the food. They have a little bit too much poohah around the food. According to the elaborate explanations we were fed a lot of 'structures.' It's okay to call it mouse or crumble, etc. The balance needs to continue to swing towards the food quality and not the fuss around it. There seems to be some risk here looking at the repetition of some of the food decorations and the pre-filled base of the dessert. But definitely worth a visit. Some things fairly prized, some steeply prized.

This place is really excellent. We were recommended to try it by our B&B host and fortunately went straight over to make a booking for the same evening.(They were really busy) We ate sitting outside on a fine evening by the canal; the location and atmosphere were perfect! The food was outstanding and the service efficient and very friendly. In two weeks of travelling round the Netherlands and Flanders this was probably our best meal. Hartelijke groeten!

When you go to a restaurant which is open about its Michelin ambitions and its chef is considered a talent by various publications, you have high expectations. These were partly met when having dinner at this restaurant. The restaurant is located near the small harbour or Wolphaartsdijk and there is reserved parking (ask them to open the fence) for the guests. There is a small outdoor (for a pre-dinner drink) and the view is on the Veerse Meer and the boats. Although the restaurant was almost full the music was too loud and very noticeable. No need for music in a relatively small space. The tables however are perfectly placed, enough privacy for a business conversation. The guests are a mix of different nationalities and business/family/friends setting. Please note they are closed on a number of weekdays, so plan your visit carefully. Let me start with the food. There is a fixed 4-course menu, which you can extend with another 4-courses, there is a wine and a juice (!) arrangement, desert can be exchanged by cheese (against extra cost) and there is a separate coffee/tea menu. What I will remember of the food is that it is a lot of different tastes.the starters are with 8 (also bread with butter) far too many too remember given the very different tastes, same with all friandises accompanying the tea and coffee. The chef does not need to prove himself, he can cook, that is clear, but it all comes across as being too much. Keep it simple, keep the standard high and do not overdo it. The dishes were original, the sizes spot all, the quality fresh and a good flow between the courses. Unfortunately, the balance with the serving staff is a very different story. Used to the quality of staff in similar type restaurants in other cities around Europe, this is not what people expect at a venue like this. Over the course of the evening, we had 11 different people at our table. Nobody seemed to âownâ our table and we could tell. They clearly all had different standards of communicating (some spoke so quietly we did not even hear them properly), knowledge (some shared what you had, but struggled explaining what exactly what was when you asked), no uniform dress code with visible tattoos (ladies, pay some attention to hair, nails and makeup) and above all it did not always feel genuinely interested in us guests when asking how it tasted. Such a shame! This restaurant has potential, but please pay attention to key details - when I went to the bathroom, there were towels on the floor (should not happen!), when we left a wrong coat was offered. As the owner, be selective in who deals with your guests. It is key in giving a first impression! I will be back for food, but expect an upgrade in the service, and am sure I am not the only one who frequents similar type restaurants.

We visited this small brewery and all of us had different local brewed beers, and nobody was disappointed. It was a nice day, so we enjoyed the backyard outdoors seating. In case you have an hour or so to spare, a definite fun place to go. We did not have anything to eat there (just FYI).
