Things to do in Rheden

I have visited this place several times as a young boy. Always a pleasure and great memories. This time however it was not so good. The food was OK and service was friendly but... when the manager orders you to sit down at a table because you are supposedly "in the way" things are not customer focussed. Very clearly an internally and process focussed restaurant. I agree with the "Be grateful you are allowed in..." is the basic attitude here." statement from another review.

Come here on a regular basis as this restaurant is close to my parents' place. In winter please try the game dishes, in other seasons the fish dishes (especially the lobster scallop main) are well worth trying. Restaurant isn't cheap but not over the top pricey either. Generally you would need a reservation. Service is always pleasant and personable (if you have a weird request, within reason you are usually accomodated.)

Had business dinner here and again we were not disappointed. Don't expect cheap prices, but you get what you are paying for, good quality food, well presented, excellent taste and good service.sit at the fire place for appetizers prior to getting seated for dinner.Meat quality was excellent and since I ordered 3 way dinner the costs were reasonable.Wine selection was good, don't hesitate to ask for specials.Cant go wrong bringing your guests here....

I went here yesterday, the food was really good (they serve mainly skewers/brochettes), and the saladbar had enough variation. The waiters were really friendly and amical, it only took some time sometimes for them to serve us. But the times they were late, they apologised, so it didn't matter, we weren't in a hurry :)

I went for lunch to this Bistro with a group of colleagues during a 1/2 day conference.Having said that it was a lunch Dutch style, this means: "broodjes" (bread with something), meat croquettes in a bread and soup. This is the luxury style of Dutch lunch, because it includes soup.I normally try and get disappointed with tomato soup. But this bistro has the most delicious tomato soup. They served also a delicious variety of breads cold and warm with different kinds of cheese and ham, greens and so. It was served in generous quantity and when we didn't expect anything else, it came yet the croquettes. AS part of the meal we had also Danish rolls. All in all, it was a good lunch.

What a treat! Great place in a peaceful location. Cozy and distinguished atmosphere. Service was excellent and very knowledgeable. Excellent quality food, wines and they even have their own beer which is excellent too!!! I live about 2 hours from the restaurant, but every year we make a special trip just to be able to eat there....you don't want to miss this! True it is not cheap, but it's worth every penny.

This beautiful restaurant is a must-try in the small village of Velp, Holland. The actual watermill in its front leads to a lovely terrace and, beyond that, a welcoming restaurant inside. Since the weather in Holland does not often lend itself to outside dinners. even on this July visit recently, we opted for an inside table. We called an hour or so before and were delighted to find our table set up and ready, and yet, we were not rushed to take our spots. We were offered drinks by the cozy sitting area near the fireplace, accompanied by deliciously marinated olives and other snacks (complimentary). When we were done with a couple of rounds of drinks, we took our seats and were ready to order since we had checked out the menu while chatting and having our apéros. In our group of 9 adults, 2 opted for the 'Chef's surprise', an intriguing option that can be ordered regardless of what the others at the table order (there is a larger tasting menu, also called Chef's surprise, with more courses, and which does require all diners at the table to partake in that service, understandably.) Even upon ordering, we are not given a hint of what the chef has in mind that evening, just asked if we have any allergies or anything-but-x on our list. We didn't, so we eagerly awaited our courses. As we had some white and some red wine drinkers at the table, we selected a red in the reasonable price category of their pretty good list, and the maître d' (or owner?) discreetly suggested a white in the same price range for us as well. Nice touch.Winners in our overall selections were the vitello tonnato, the steak eaters as well, and for sure the Chef's surprise courses. The steak tartare was fresh and good, but could have used more seasoning and we were not asked when the order was taken if we wanted it more spicy or less so. The fries were very good as well. All in all, we highly recommend De Watermolen, speak to the owner (or manager) about the history of the watermill, he is very knowledgeable and pleasant. We had no problem getting English menus for those of us who needed it, and the waiter insisted on speaking English to us, even though we did have some Dutch natives among us. The entire meal was a bit on the pricey side, but hey, we were here for a special occasion and were happy to indulge.Would definitely return and highly recommend!

The Rack restaurant, an a la carte restaurant, as a shelter, the former haystack from the farm. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffee and an apple pie after a brisk walk, but also for a hearty dinner. The restaurant features a large terrace where you can eat
My mentor Lee Kuan Yew, Prime Minister of Singapore for a great many decades (he passed away two years ago), was famous for his rather penetrating comments c.q. quotes. One of them: "It is only the less clever that never change their minds". That perfectly reflect my opinion re. De Ruif. Now to me the number one eatery at the Posbank by a mile. Earlier this week terrace open, spring sunshine galore. Hence, professional and attentive management.
