On Van Sommelsdijkstraat, not far from the town center, are several restaurants. We went for this place thanks to its pleasant outdoor seating andwe also liked the idea to get some Dutch specialities.Naturally we asked for 'Pannekoek', that thin pancake or a bit thickish crèpe, which is so typical for the Netherlands. I had it topped by a Surinamese recipe: 'Batjaw', consisting of 'Bakkeljauw' (salted cod), garlic, tomatoes, leaf celery, hot Madame Jeannette peppers and oil. It was excellent and I really enjoyed it together with a local Parbo beer. My wife had a 'Griekse Pannekoek' (Greek pancake) with olives, mushrooms and oregano and was also happy about it.We finished the lunch with a Lavazza espresso and still hungry we would also have tried a Poffertje as dessert, one of these tiny, puffy pancakes, topped with icing sugar.

We stopped here for a quick lunch that turned everything but quick. On the good side, the place is very touristy oriented and you can sit outside which is very nice. Also, the food was good and they provide a mix of Surinamese food with traditional salads and sandwiches. The staff is very nice and attentive but hour food took hours to arrive. We were lucky we had some extra time but this was quite an extreme delay. They offered and apology but I think it was so late they would have needed to offer a complimentary coffee or desert in top of an apology.
Where to eat American food in Paramaribo: The Best Restaurants and Bars
This restaurant used to be called âPark Avenueâ restaurant until recently. The newly renovated restaurant has tapas and full menu. The husband and wife team provide an exceptional service including greeting you as you come in and on your way out from the restaurant. They are very humble people. We had surf & turf with steamed vegetables and seasoned potatoes. The grilled salmon was fantastic and tasty; it was complemented with vodka, strawberry lime-mint cocktail. The ambiance-indoors and outdoor seating makes the place a casual and fine dinning place! We will definitely revisit this place.

Our 2-and-a-half year old was a bit too small for the intricate bouncing/sliding kids facility, but he thoroughly enjoyed what he could. There are also some coins operated carousels attractions great for smaller kids. Food wise there is a variety of ice cream, bakery, burgers&fries, drinks etc - we tasted some and it all was really good. If your kids are a bit older i guess you can just let them run around freely while enjoying your food or even a book in a corner - there is enough stuff to keep them busy for a while (we literally had to drag our toddler out after almost two hours!). Best option for when you need an indoors solution!
