We have visited this restaurant when visiting Ostend a number of years ago and had a great experience and on our recent visit we were not disappointed. Our chosen dishes were cooked to perfection and as requested, the ingredients were of a high quality. The staff are attentive, warm and friendly and I would highly recommend - am sure you will not be disappointed.Thank you for your review.

Nice trendy, scandinavian place, very good food, but ever so slow service, no veggie or vegan options. Cheese and salami as entrees is way too classic.

Yep definitely very good value for the money! Well served plates, high quality Belgium foods. Everything, including the appetiser (sun dried tomatoes tapenade) is home made! Great we shall return.

After having tasted the shrimp croquettes on the seafoodfestival we decided to have dinner at this restaurant at the boulevard. We sat outside with the view on the sea.We only took the steak tartare which was made at the table. Good just as the fried fries. The salad was a little bit a dissapointment. They had only one red wine by the glass. A Merlot which was nice but not very special. The staff was friendly except for the waiter who made the steak tartare at our table. He was not interested at allIn the food, the guests and giving them âthe evening out feelingâ.Next time we will stay longer and try some fish dishes. Hopefully the waiter has learned then what hospitality means.

You know what to expect here: no fancy dishes, no trendy interior, average age over 50, but also great classic dishes (sole meuniere, shrimp croquettes,...), good wine and great service which results in a great dining experience. What they do, they do it well. But know what to expect.

My 2 adult sons, my husband and myself went to De Marmite Tuesday 5th Oct 2010. We had the most wonderful meal, we chose what another table had because it looked so delicious and we were not dissapointed. Recommend this restaurant without reservation, be patient as the food is all cooked fresh!

Busy weekend in ostend yet service here was impeccable. Really good menu for a reasonable price. Family run business that is clear.

Wanting to take pictures of the magnificent sunset on Ostendâs waterfront, we diverted from our usual route of turning right onto the promenade and turned left instead, towards the sun. We were looking for somewhere to eat and found this charming little restaurant called Othello. We were given some very tasty tapenade and fresh bread as a taster to begin with, as standard to have with our drinks. Then onto the starter. To say that the scallops I had were the most delicious and tender Iâve ever had would be an understatement. They were utterly superb. We then went onto mussels in white wine for me, and beef for my husband. The mussels were divine, and my husband reports that the meat was really tender and tasty.Dessert was Creme Brûlée for him and ice cream for me. Both absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend this restaurant. It would be advisable to book ahead. We had not booked, and they did accommodate us, but it was full. An absolute gem of a find and we would come again. It is pricey, but we donât mind paying for quality. For drinks and three courses each the bill amounted to about â¬120.00.The service was good too and the owners very attentive. Given that the position of the restaurant is a little bit away from the main thoroughfare, it was full nevertheless, and worthy of walking just that little but further west to find it. There is a step up from the pavement, but if someone were being pushed in a wheelchair I think the wheelchair could be lifted up the step. One couple had a little dog with them who had its own seat. They allow well behaved dogs into restaurants in Belgium. Not sure if they all do, but Iâve noticed a number of them seem to allow it.
