Its transition from Roman military camp to modern municipality has not been without growing pains, but today Nijmegen is thriving, largely because of its lively student population and its status as a hub for political activism. Try to visit during the internationally popular Nijmeegse Vierdaagse four-day walking festival and the epic Zomerfeesten summer party. They happen at the same time, because why not?

The restaurant is located near the river Waal in the hart of Nijmegen. Very small restaurant with only 40 places in a old (1660) building. Straight and fresh kitchen. Good and personal service. We would love to serve you.........with love
Searching for a good place to have dinner, we selected Witlof based on recommendations from TripAdvisor. We were attentively welcomed by staff and made us feel really welcome and at home. We selected two starters and a main course with accompanying wines. The first starter sea bass tartare was really great, as well as the second bouilabaise. Food was just lovely and we are quite picky. The first wine had difficulty standing up to the dish. The second performed better. As a main course we had deer. The barbera wine in our view was struggeling to keep up. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very pleasant with a possible view on the river. In our view well worth 4 out of 5. Much appreciated yet not one of our top favourites in Nijmegen.

We visited the Blonde Pater recently during a brief World War Two Battlefields Tour stay in the Wolfheze area. We arrived at about lunchtime, and the cafe was really busy - barely a spare seat to be had! In fact, the whole street and area seemed to be heaving, and really thronged with people. We did manage to find a couple of seats outside, and the cafe proved to be a splendid place to people watch, and observe the comings and goings in a busy Dutch city. The service seemed quite slow, but this was probably inevitable given the fact that the cafe was pretty full. After a couple of beers, we ate some scrambled eggs on toast, which proved to be quite tasty, and attractively presented, with the eggs being mixed with various herbs and other greenery. All in all, the Blonde Pater provided us with a very enjoyable experience, in a lovely cosmopolitan location. This central part of the city is certainly well worth a visit!Dear Adrian,Thank you so much for the review. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the scrambled eggs, the beers.and ofcourse the great neighbourhood

We ate at Bistrobar Berlin last night, a Thursday night and it wasn't busy. Overall, we had a great meal and a lovely evening with good service. They offer a long and varied wine list that should meet anyone's price/taste point. Along with the usual beer on tap, they have Chiney Blond and a couple other less common options.I ordered an olive muffin filled with artichoke/tomato with covered with smoked yoghurt and smoked salmon with asparagus. Both were great. The olive muffin surprised me with its firm texture and the acidic dressing on the tomato an artichoke in the middle. The smoked yoghurt was light and surprising. My dinner companion was happy with his lamb and especially enjoyed steak tartar that involved tapioca balls and managed to work.At the price point (â¬10 per plate), Bistrobar Berlin is turning out innovative delicious food. I like the fact that I'll be able to try a couple different dishes next time I go. The menu changes gradually, so I anticipate they hold on to the favorites and change seasonal foods. There were at least three options that included white asparagus last night, for example. All in all, a great eating experience for us. From the other reviews, it sounds like it might be worth trying to avoid busy nights. I'll be back.

Tavern De Duivelsberg is situated in the middle of a nature reserve where it is nice hiking for the more trained with a good condition because terrain is very steep at some places, always going up and down. After such a hike it is nice reposing at Tavern De Duivelsberg with it wide card of pannenkoeken and cool or warm drinks whatever is preferred. We always like to taste local dark beer when available so we ordered a "Rooie Duivel van de Hemel" wich was served too cold as happens so often. Because it is served so cold it cannot unfold its whole flavours, so with a little patience it gets to the right temperature, maybe its better you order another drink at the same time for your first thirst while your "Duivel" is becoming the better taste. Service is swift and very friendly.

The Blaauwe Hand is truly world class. The bar keepers are very knowledgeable and are more than happy to make suggestions. They have a good variety of local and regional beers from the Netherlands and Belgium. The food is homemade and tastes great. There's nothing quite like having a few at this place, with the beer served properly, in its proper glass. The afternoon and evening just fly by.

A local spot we like to go regularly. Very good burgers (also vegetarian options) for a very decent price. Burgers are always served with a pickle. I'd suggest to grab some fries with it and possibly some coleslaw. To finish things off, either grab a beer or a very nice banana milkshake

A small restaurant just outside the centrum of Nijmegen. An underground parking lot across the street. There is an indoor and an outdoor dinning area at the back. The back garden has glass dome to shield off weather. The owner dresses the restaurant with antiques which adds to the atmosphere. The menu is a simple page of selected dishes accompanied by 6 pages of wine. There is a wide range of biological wines. Look out for the orange wine (white wine but taste like red)! It is a fine/French cuisine so donât count on big portions of food. It is all about tasting. The cote de boeuf is tender and dressed with fleur de sel. Dear, Nice to hear from you! Met hartelijke groet, Team Flores

EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF DINING AT DE NIEUWE WINKEL. Prepare to be surprised and amazed by unusual flavours, the pureness of ingredients, food to make you laugh out loud or that you want to savour in silence - all served in our own unique style. Welcome.
We went this evening to restaurant De Nieuwe Winkel, because it has a great recommendation on tripadvisor. It is a small cousy restaurant with trendy staff. We could choose between meet (chicken), fish or vegetarian menu. Because we had some appetite we choose the 6 courses menu with fish. You get something different comparing to other fancy places. We choose fish, so you expect some fish. One of the starters had a bit of fish in it and that was it. The main course was a tasty piece of a carrot (but then purple) and the second main course some beet. Loved the dessert most. A tasty appel and a nice vegie cheesecake variation. We had a nice evening, but at the end we had to laugh about it. If we would go here with our parents they would call us crazy. 160 euro for a petit carrot and beet as main-course. Ridiculous. So if you are a vegetarian and you want something tasty this is the place, but you pay a lot for it. If you want a nice piece of fish or meat better go to another place.

Vesters is a luxury and still cosy place for an excellent dinner. We serve authentic dishes inspired bij the French cuisine. With every dish we selected a matching wine and we also have a nice wine list.
Although it is a fancy place, it still has a very familiar atmosphere which makes people feel at home. Loved the food and the fact that although we spend 2 hrs there, the plates were constantly coming, with nice explanations and also the wine pairing. A place to get conversations flowing and time to enjoy the flavoured food. Waiters were fantastic, english spoken fluently. Loved it!
