I LOVE this place, I live in Mechelen, they serve light fresh healthy meal. My wife and I were served in Minutes. My Flemish is not perfect, luckily the waiter helped us choose in flawless english. I had the LUXEBOTERHAM with GoatCheese, bacon, Apple, Ricola. I would strongly recommend it. We will try to come back on a Sunday, they do Brunch, so I am curious to see that.

Called in for a drink 10pm ended up being there till 2am. Barman spoke good English and had a good selection of Belgian beers. Will be calling in again when in area â½ï¸

This is well positioned on the corner of IJzerenleen overlooking the main Grote Markt square, but its small frontage means that it could be easily passed by. It is long and narrow inside with a fairly plain but modern décor. I imagine in summer it would have a few tables outside which would provide a good view of the old square.The menu is not extensive and comprises fairly commonplace dishes. The food was reasonably priced and OK, although nothing above the average. Overall it is OK for lunch or a small meal, but it hasnât got the ambience (or menu) for a comfortable dinner or a convivial bar for few drinks.

Little cafe with small, but super tasty menu! Come and try some of best belgian beers and fingerfood! Happy music, happy people and healthy breakfst are gonna make sure you start a day good, all the way till the evening and a good wine to round it all up.

In warm weather, the outdoor terrace provides a fine view of Mechelen's splendid Grote Markt and the spectacular St Romboutskatedraal beyond. Good draught 50cl Jupiler for a reasonable â¬4.50 and friendly service. But a pity about the interior. On a previous visit two and a half years previously, this Tripadvisor had noted it as the only obvious place in central Mechelen that had any antique charm and had made a mental note to return. Sadly, all that's gone with an unsympathetic renovation.Thank you for taking time to write this review. We are happy to hear that you had a nice time in Chalex. Although we didnt renovate the place, we only get positive comments about its cleanliness. The old dirty decor is out and very few things are replaced. However, de gustibus non est disputandum.We certainly hope to see you back.

Stayed in Mechelen for 3 nights and what a wonderful time we all had (a group of 30). Fantastic restaurants, bars, sights but most of all the people. So welcoming and friendly, a truly lovely town well worth visiting, better still, stay a few nights and really make the most of what this gem has to offer.

You're in Vrijbroek park and need something to eat or drink? You're not exactly spoiled for choice, but Chalet Vrijbroekhof will accommodate. Decent food and service at reasonable prices right beside one of the parks many kids play areas. You won't be disappointed, but nothing to shout home about.

We hooked up (my family of 5) with one of my best friends (2+1) to have an early bday celebration. The location is perfect - close to the centre with a little park aside where kids can play on a funny large yellow man-statue next to the cathedral. You can park your car under the park and all shops are also close by ... we made reservations and once we parked our bikes and entered today we adapted one of the brunch menuâs because they would have way too much for our 9-year old sun. The brunch menu (21⬠drinks not included) have 4 courses with Suisse cooks, croissants, small sandwiches and bread and cheese... Together with the drink we were already almost stuffed. Then we went on with a little broccoli soup (delicious), pancakes or bacon and eggs to finish up with a granola which we al left at the table due to food overflow... The menu was more than plenty (too much in fact) but nice. Service was rather quick but not all were proâs as some left the empty plates and glasses/bottles on the table. The formula was rich but I guess I prefer a buffet whee you can eat what you prefer...

Had a business lunch in their restaurant. Braised pork cheeks in a truly fantastic sauce, my colleague had an excellent fillet steak and peppercorn sauce. Do try this place.

So the locals serve Mechelen cuckoo and describe it as âfancy chickenâ. The English would call it guinea fowl and here it is superb. Served with several tasty accompaniments. My friend with the fettuccini was happy. Only the burger wasnât great, but the message is: donât come to a top restaurant and order burger. Top in Mechelen.

We decided to have dinner here before hitting the airport. It was a good decision. Service was pleasant and efficient. Great atmosphere. The food was happy mix. Local interpretation of dishes but well presented and good to eat once you except the quirky add ons. Classic Belgian dishes on menu as well. We will be back to try them out.
