The restaurant has what you expect. Courteous reception, nice atmosphere, surprising taste combinations, fresh materials from the region and some nice wines to go with it and mostly in good combination with the food. They have a little bit too much poohah around the food. According to the elaborate explanations we were fed a lot of 'structures.' It's okay to call it mouse or crumble, etc. The balance needs to continue to swing towards the food quality and not the fuss around it. There seems to be some risk here looking at the repetition of some of the food decorations and the pre-filled base of the dessert. But definitely worth a visit. Some things fairly prized, some steeply prized.

Incredible how we were treated here. They were friendly but just blatantly lied in our faces. We ordered steak done rare but got shoe sole style steak. The waitress said 'It might seem well done but it's got the structure of a rare steak' and she could actually keep herself from smiling. Unfortunately one of our party heard the chef tells her to say that. When I discretely contacted the place they denied it a,d came up with a complete cock and bull story.Looked nice but looks are deceiving.

My impression of Goes was that it was not over-endowed with sophisticated dining options and so on our last night in Zeeland, we were delighted to have this tucked away restaurant recommended to us.We chose 3 dishes each from a set menu that could have extended to 7 courses if our appetites had allowed, including slow cooked black-legged chicken and turbot. Each one was thoughtfully conceived, very well presented and executed impeccably. There were absolutely no disappointments but a number of high points not least the 5 tiny desserts, each of which was a delight in its own right. The service was extremely friendly and delivered with a typically Dutch combination of informality and competence. The dining room was imaginatively decorated but in an under-stated fashion that perfectly complemented the food.English is not readily and often only reluctantly spoken in this part of Holland but the staff were all too willing to dredge up obscure vocabulary from the depths of their memories in an effort to explain the composition of the dishes. As this is Holland, an English visitor must remember not to regard the meal as let down by the obligatory accompaniment of French fries. Our instinctive association with vulgar foods such as hamburgers or battered cod simply doesn't resonate here and the fact that the fries are home made and double-fried means care has been lavished even on this seemingly modest and otherwise incongruous side dish.

We ate well here. The food was well presented and the meat was excellent. We waited a long time for the food, though.

At this place, you get good value for money. Simple but tasty dishes at low prices. It is not open until very late. It is called 'the lunch cafe', which is an indication that they focus on lunch type dishes. The lunch plate of eggs with loads of mushrooms is very nice.

The restaurant inside as well as the outside terrace are nicely appointed and we were even allowed to sit outside on the little gracht terrace at the end of April. Very friendly service, unpretentious and efficient, menu small but with ambitions. We had special salads, a fish platter and baguettes with garnishments, everything was tasty .. only the high prices.. but that applies to all good places in the Netherland - were on the high end. Very romantic interior. Will be back next time!

This was a good but somewhat confusing experience. The food is delicious and each of the courses is âfine diningâ quality. However, the menu concept and service doesnât match the food. First they handed out a so-called Tasting menu where we could chose 3 or more courses. It looked like all courses were of equal size, but when we were ordering, they pointed out that the pheasant was the only proper main. Why not make this clear in the menu?It also was possible to get an ordinary menu, but that we had to ask for... With some fine tuning on concept and service, this could be a top score!

Excellent quality food and very good value for money. Had the best beef tartar I have ever had. The fish main course and puff desert is surprising good. Only disappointment is that it is a bit short staff and take some wait to order.Highly recommended.
This is a nice bar and restaurant situated on the big square in the centre of Goes. Nice affordable dishes of the Dutch cuisine. The homemade applepie is a big recommendation. Besides the good food, there is also a wide range of Dutch and Belgium beers an
