Mel's Diner must be one of the most famous diners in America. Famous for featuring in the American Graffiti film there are numerous Mel's scattered all over California. This particular Mel's is located down a side street just off of Hollywood Boulevard (on the opposite side to the metro station â you can't miss it there is a huge MELS sign right outside) and as you can see it is a great photo opportunity! We were feeling peckish so stopped for some 'brunch'. We enjoyed a breakfast burrito and chicken & waffles â both dishes were AMAZING and we finished the lot. The only thing we would say about the 'fried chicken and waffles' dish which is a slight negative is the chicken wasn't a fillet and had bones in but it's not the end of the world and completely down to preference (it didn't stop us from wiping the plate clean). We finished our meal by ordering a milkshake which was to die for, super delicious and they even serve the remaining shake in a silver stirring cup for you to enjoy after (not a drop goes to waste). When you're inside you can choose your own music on mini jukeboxes in your booth and you get a real 80's diner feel â even the wait staff are dressed for the occasion. The toilets were clean and the prices were reasonable (we paid $48 including service for the entire meal) which we found cheap for LA. At the end, we purchased a Mel's Diner fridge magnet from their souvenirs at the till to remember our visit :-) FAB TIME!Instagram: @journeywithuss

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Great outdoor patio, award winning pancakes. Late night diner. Beat the Clock dinner special. For more than seven decades, Du-parâs has been a part of the LA coffee shop tradition, serving millions their famous breakfas
Visited one morning for breakfast with the family. Itâs a very quaint, comfortable and pretty little setting with an âold schoolâ feel. Staff are friendly and helpful. We had the American pancakes with some sausages, bacon and hash browns as sides. The pancakes, although looked like they were going to be stodgy, were light and fluffy and tasted great. Portion sizes were good - a stack of five pancakes was enough to feed my family of 4. The orange juice was my favourite. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area. Apparently, being open 24 hours, it is very popular amongst celebrities visiting after filming so you may get lucky meeting some of them if you are star-struck! Only downside is that it is quite expensive if you are on a budget.
