Find out what Diner restaurants to try in Vallejo. Vallejo (/vəˈleɪ(h)oʊ/ və-LAY-(h)oh; Spanish: [baˈʎexo]) is a waterfront city in Solano County, California, located in the North Bay sub-region of the San Francisco Bay Area. Vallejo is geographically the closest North Bay city to the inner East Bay, so it is sometimes mistakenly associated with that region. The population was 115,942 at the 2010 census. It is the tenth most populous city in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the largest in Solano County. Vallejo sits on the northeastern shore of San Pablo Bay, 30 miles north of San Francisco, the northwestern shore of the Carquinez Strait and the southern end of the Napa River, 15 miles south of Napa. The city is named after General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, a native Californio, leading proponent of California's statehood, and one of the first members of the California State Senate; the neighboring city of Benicia is named for his wife, Francisca Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo.

First challenge: finding the driveway to get into the parking lot (we overshot it and had to make a strange u-turn that was probably totally legal). Big, comfort-food menu with gluten-free options, substantial portions, friendly staff, but what I ordered was not what I got. I didn't want to fuss (nor will I call out the server who was super sweet but was confused what I wanted). I ended up with a veggie omelet, which is okay. What I wanted was a veggie benedict with scrambled instead of poached eggs. What is the difference? 6000 calories worth of Hollandaise sauce. Refills on drinks came quickly and with a smile. It's a nice location.

This Black Bear Diner has taken the idea of a family restaurant and really kicked it up a notch. The menu is filled with tasty selections that will appease even the finickiest of eaters, not to mention the best desserts around. We pride ourselves in deliv
This was our 3rd Black Bear...and again it was great. Big hearty portions. We ordered 2 steaks, both came well done as well as the sides. Restrooms appropriate and clean even though we stepped in 30 mins before closure time. Service EXCELLENT as always. Desert: a great cherry pie.

Eating breakfast here reminded me of why it is great to be an American. Watching the waitress (Amber) interact with the customers was so great! As she affectionately harassed one customer another said "I feel like I am at home!" It was like being in the middle of a movie! The breakfast was cooked to order, tasty and the portions were generous. The prices are reasonable. Go (especially if you are a tourist), order some breakfast, and let the show begin!
