It's a very small+cozy place with a lot of interesting sports memorabilia. It's not open late,so count on breakfast+lunch only. The thing you'll always get is very friendly+excellent service!!!

Leo's Coney Island

Reviewed By AshPoke58

We stopped in this afternoon for a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted right away and for the second time in about 4 years, the waitress was actually genuinely nice. Usually we get the fake, slightly annoyed if we say we need a minute or something extra at all, type of waitress. Emily N was wonderful! She brought me a water with my coffee without me even having to ask, she gave us time to decide, she came by often enough to keep our drinks filled and get us anything we needed. She was on top of it. I am seriously impressed. I like to take my time and relax when we go out, I don't like to feel rushed. She was not pushy at all. The food was great too. Eggs weren't dry, but the hash browns were a little too crisp. The coffee was hot and the food was not greasy. Overall, great experience. Emily N is amazing at Leo's on Telegraph!!! Stop in and see for yourself.

I remembered passing it on numerous occasions and today we stopped in for breakfast. I asked our server for a history lesson on the restaurant. It is owned by a true Coney Island family. They have five Coney's, mostly in the Down River Communities, including the one across the street from the Allen Park MJR Theater, which I have visited on many occasions. They even have one in Texas. Every one of their restaurants serves Dearborn Brand, ham, sausage and bacon. I feel the Dearborn Brand is the absolute best in the Metro Detroit area. We were greeted as we walked in. Our server quickly came to our table to take our drink order. Naturally it was coffee. It had a good aroma and a robust flavor. I like my coffee that way. We decided to split a country omelet. I added sautéed onions and green peppers on the inside, cheddar cheese on the top and the sausage gravy on the side. We are on a pita bread kick and they agreed to substitute it for the regular bread. The potatoes are fresh and hand cut. I was a little disappointed in the gravy. I had a good flavor but its consistency was a little off base. To me, there was to much flour and it was a little under cooked. Both of the servers made sure our coffee mugs were full and always checking if we needed anything else. Today they were featuring bean soup with ham. Our waitress said all of their soups are house made. We took a cup of the bean soup home and a little while longer my wife and I gave it a try. Delicious.
