1950's themed diner serving American cuisine. Famous for our breakfast Horseshoe and 16" pancake.
Easy drive from downtown Springfield. Ample parking. It is a medium sized oddly shaped Quonset type metal hut in an industrial lot. However, when you open the doors and go inside - you are in a 50's type diner. Very cool! All one big room of booths and tables with a counter. Movie, tv and route 66 items on the walls, like the Three Stooges. My husband had eggs over easy with sausage and enjoyed it. I ordered one pancake knowing they were to be big and it was. It filled the whole dinner plate. However, it was not hot so had to send it back for reheat. The taste was good but I've had better tasting pancakes. Prices are very reasonable for the quantity. Our service was great - prompt and with a smile. Overall, I loved the decor and friendly service even though the taste of the food itself was average. This is still a must see for the area and route 66 fans.

Wow, we enjoyed this place! While in Springfield visiting historic Lincoln attractions, we wanted to try local food establishments. Star Sixty Six Cafe is supposedly a truck stop, right off the interstate, but once inside, it reminded me of a 1970âs hometown family restaurant. Our server did a fine job. As we enjoyed our generously sized side salads, and our daughter her bowl (not just a cup) of soup, another server came out of the kitchen with a large tray stacked with steaming hot fresh biscuits. To our surprise, he stopped at our table and asked if we would like some. Apparently this is a regular occurrence at the Star Sixty Six. After enjoying our biscuits with butter and jelly, our server brought out our meals. Wow! The food was literally overflowing the plates. The food was traditional and tasty. My daughterâs and my leftovers where enough to feed us and my husband lunch the next day! The pie case by the cash register held some amazing looking pies which we were way to full to sample. It would probably be worth a stop just to try the pie. If you prefer to skip the chain restaurants in favor of the local spots, be sure to give the Star Sixty Six Cafe a try when in Springfield.

Came here for breakfast on Motherâs Day. They have only 3 tables outside so we snagged one. Typical breakfast but the weekend special of 3 eggs, meat, potatoes, toast comes with coffee and is cheaper than ordering the same thing with only 2 eggs and coffee a la carte. Service was a little slow but we werenât in a hurry and they ended up comping my meal as it was Motherâs Day, which was really nice. We like to come here when the weather is nice and can eat outside.
