The population was 6,187 at the 2010 census, a decline of 1.1 percent from 6,256 at the 2000 census. It was settled by and named for Smith Paul, a North Carolina native who married a Chickasaw woman and became a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation before the Civil War. The town economy is largely based on agriculture and oil production.

Good food. Catfish and burgers are their specialties.Food has always been consistent each time, so we know what to expect each time.Good place to eat in a small town. It is downtown, not close to I-35 so some travelers may miss it.

I have been coming to Mimi's since 2008 when I started traveling to Pauls Valley. I LOVE their breakfast! Good ole' country cooking! The biscuits and gravy are the best! Usually get out of there spending about $12 for 2 people for breakfast. The service is exactly what you would expect at a small-town diner, warm and friendly.

while traveling through the area, co-worker & I stopped in for lunch as it looked like an interesting diner. Friendly service, plenty to choose from on the menu.I ordered a burger and fries. I must say these were the BEST fries I've ever had! They were great! Burger was good also.Would of like to had a milk shake or desert but don't need to calories.Would certainly eat here again if I'm in the area.

I'm not aware of the state of the Dairy Twist before it's previous owner (Not the Thompsons) but during it's previous incarnation the Dairy Twist was a dirty and dingy restaurant that had bug problems and I refused to eat there.With that said, The Thompson family has taken what was left of the establishment and has made it into a reputable and clean restaurant. The food is good, the place looks clean and is very nice. The customer service is great.I have nothing but good things to say about the dairy twist, I only wish they were open a little bit later in the evening so I could enjoy their food more often.
