Like most diners you can get just about anything you want, from lobster to lox on a bagel...but what is truly unique about the Eveready is the awesome atmosphere! We go there after just about every school event for a milkshake and fries. Inevitably we meet several people we know and it makes the dining experience that much sweeter! A truly warm and friendly meeting place...a real gem in Hyde Park!

Tonight my friend and I went to the Palace Diner. I ordered the Turkey Artichoke Panini and my friend ordered a Hot Roast Beef sandwich with Cheese. When we received our food the Turkey on my Panini was dry. My friends "Hot" Roast Beef sandwich was cold, the Roast Beef was torn up, looking like pulled pork, and the cheese looked like plastic. When we left she threw up... 15 minutes after leaving while still in their parking lot. We called to complain and asked for her money back due to this terrible inconvenience. The manager said, "15 minutes isn't enough for that to happen.". He also said, "She will not be getting a refund.". When I told him to come outside and look at the vomit for himself, he passed the phone to the poor waitress in the cross fire and made her tell us, "My boss said no.". I will never come there again. I would recommend you think twice before stepping inside there as well.

After several trips here (convenient to our home), we have decided to stop coming. Yes, there's a wide selection, but the food is generally bland and uninteresting. Even the tuna sandwich had to be ordered with tomato and lettuce separately (paid for) and the tuna was tasteless. Lentil soup was really more a tomato sauce than soup. Fries were flaccid at best. Service was good.
