We were traveling on route 58 near Danville, Va and while checking our GPS for a restaurant to eat lunch the State Line Diner was listed so we decided to check it out. We were really surprised with the fast service, friendly waitresses, good food and really reasonable prices. My wife had the chicken strips with potato salad and pasta salad and I had the chicken salad with fried okra and sweet potato fries. We were both pleased with our meals. If we are in the Danville area again we'll definitely stop by again for a meal.
If you like breakfast or lunchand want great tasting biscuits or breakfast combo meals, wow, I eat there about every Sunday morning and a few times in between. I highly recommend them. Their selections and choices of food and drinks are excellent, Also some awesome Muffins and Oatmeal with some toppings if you want. Pancakes are thick and fluffy. Go there...!

Service is always quick and with a smile. Don't want to forget to mention that you can also get breakfast for dinner! Everything I have eaten from here has been good, macaroni and cheese is delicious as well!!

Serving up your favorites with a smile. Voted Danville's Best!
This restaurant is exceptionally clean, and wonderfully friendly. It has a drive-thru and an outside order window with nearby picnic tables. We were there in January, so we went inside. They offer hot dogs, hamburgers, bbq, grilled chicken plate... chicken fingers for the kiddies. I ordered the Hot Hamburger Plate. I've ordered these at mom & pop places all over the country. I think this is the first time I saw one where they put a burger on a bun, sliced it in half and spread the halves, and filled the gap with fries. Slaw is on the side. And delicious gravy all over the burger and fries. Wonderful. My wife had the 1/3 lb burger with lettuce and tomato and mayo. Get this... our total bill was 9 dollars and change, and I had trouble finishing my plate. A 1/3 lb Bacon Cheeseburger is just $3.99; 2/3 lb Double Cheeseburger is $4.98. Cheap eats! One thing I really like about this place---we placed our drink order and meal order with one server; when our food came off the grill it was delivered by the server who happened to be right there. So it came to us literally piping hot; fries too hot to eat. Just the way we like it. When I say this place was clean, I mean it... floors you could eat off, plate glass windows like they're not there... There's a lunch counter with rotating stools; free-standing four tops; and six or eight booths. Lots of room. You can get your hot dogs really, really loaded (chili etc). They have fresh fruit milkshakes, and ice cream cones, cups etc. We'll be back.

When my husband and I travel we always look for a local diner. The Heart Line Restaurant was a great choice! It is a typical old style diner with a short order cook who is also the owner manager. She spoke to each guest who entered. If you go, read the story of how the diner originated. Food was great and staff was friendly.

Great food at very reasonable prices! Must haves are omelettes and rye toast. Recently re-located to a bigger building - and they still have a wait on the weekends! Something for everyone- including a nice buffet. They do great job of keeping the trays full of hot items. Waitresses and hostess are very nice and made us feel welcome. Highly recommended.
