Very charming little restaurant, in a stunning old small building. Also great atmosphere inside! Definitely hidden gem, but reservation absolutely necessary anyways, it was booked out to the last table!! The food was great, apparently they change the menu every month. Also they mentioned that the goose liver is not foie gras but from naturally fed goose, which is a big plus, also for pointing out that this is very important to the restaurant. Only with the card payment there was a problem as the machine did not work properly....we were very glad that one of us happened to have a lot of cash with them-LOL.

This restaurant in the old part of Bern is a gem! As soon as you walk down the stairs you feel like you've entered something quite special and authentic. Bookings are essential because unlike other restaurants, these guys are not interested in packing the floor space with an abundance of people. This results in a very cosy eating experience. Due to limited seating, the noise level is at a minimum so you can actually hear your partner talking! The 3, 4 or 5 course menu is pre-set so if you are a vegetarian or have allergies let them know the day before. The food is exquisite. Every dish was cooked to perfection and delivered with a beautiful glass of wine to match. The highlight for me was the 2nd course of lamb which was cooked on the bone for 24 hrs. The flavours of the meat, mixed with linguini and tomatoes, was superb. I didn't want the dish to end. The service was exceptional and we look forward to returning! Thanks guys!!

We decided to eat our dinner in Bern as our train route back from the Lauterbrunnen Valley took us this way to return to our hotel in Zurich. To be honest I was not absolutely sure of the choice when we made it but my reservations were completely unfounded. The restaurant in beautifully and tastefully decorated, the ambiance is charming and the service and food outstanding. My wife and both opted for what appears to be a dish they are well know for and that is wiener schnitzel - the portion size was humongous and well worth the price. Eating it and the french fries that we opted to have with it took every bit of will power we had. I still had room for dessert (I always have room) and opted for the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream that was served on a gray stone slate and garnished with raspberries and a raspberry coulee - it was heavenly! If our travels ever take us through Bern again we will definitely be stopping for dinner at Buner again.

Itâs a small underground restaurant in the center of Berne. The food is excellent, they only have menus with set prices, starting with a 3 course menu for CHF 78 (no option below it), going up to 7 course menu (much higher price). The food is great, portions small and service very friendly. The ambience is cozy and quiet. I recommend if you have some extra cash to spend :)
