In the area for a Baseball game and found this place for lunch. Great selection of menu items and all the food for everyone was well prepared and eaten to clean plates. Waitress was very nice and efficient. Place could use a little remodeling but a great place to stop for a bite to eat.

This is a nice little restaurant that serves excellent breakfasts and good lunches as well. The service is good, the atmosphere is informal and the prices are quire reasonable. Mostly, however, the food, while simple, is very tasty.We have been to this restaurant many times over the nearly ten years we have lived in Adrian. We typically go for breakfast as they are one of the better values in town. Their lunch menu is also pretty good primarily featuring comfort food. The building strikes most people as cute and unassuming. The interior is as small as one might expect based on the diminutive appearance of the building. When I brought my mother here for the first time, she remarked that the diner reminded her of places from a bygone era. It has a bit of a vintage appeal as the booths and simple tables have a bit of a Depression-era feel. My mother was a child of the 30s and 40s so I suspect this is why it resonated with her.My favorite here is the baked oatmeal and this is what I had on our most recent visit. It is always a treat. We had our daughter, our son and his girlfriend with us on this occasion and all of us ordered breakfast. My son also had the baked oatmeal while the rest of the party had the standard eggs, bacon and potatoes. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast dishes as the hash browns were particularly tasty and the portions were more than adequate.The prices have always been excellent here. The total cost with coffees/teas, tax and tip was about $7 per person on this occasion. For what we got, this was a terrific value.Overall, this is a fine little restaurant serving simple American comfort fare. The breakfasts they serve are especially good and the baked oatmeal is a standout item. The service, while laid back, is always good as they are efficient and do a great job keeping the coffee cup filled. The atmosphere is homey bordering on nostalgic and the prices are quite reasonable. If you want a hearty breakfast in a relaxed environment, you might want to give this place a try.

Summary:This is a typical Michigan Coney Island that serves large portions for a decent price. The location behind a fuel station is a bit unusual but it works well enough. The menu has many favorites consistent with the style of restaurant. The service can be a bit spotty and the atmosphere is very informal. But overall it is a pretty good choice.Details:Rating this place is a little tricky and, in the end, one has to judge it against what it purports to be. This establishment does not try to be elegant. They take a simple and straightforward approach and pull it off fairly well.I had no idea this place existed until a co-worked mentioned to me about a year ago that they really liked it. I did not know of its presence because it hides a little too effectively behind a BP station at the corner of US223 and Treat Hwy. The facility is not bad looking, however and the interior, while simple, seems to be well-kept and clean.I have been in this restaurant four or five times and have tried it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have always been happy enough with the experience. The reason for rating it "average" rather than "very good" is that the service has, at times, been spotty. I have experienced longer than normal waits for food and longer than normal times for wait personnel to attend to us. I observed one set of patrons who came in for lunch and had to leave before a wait person got to them because they ran out of time before having to return to work. The time they had seemingly should not have been a problem.The menu offers a good mix of items. I am especially fond of the hearty breakfasts they offer. On our last trip at lunch, between the three of us, we had a chicken salad sandwich, a tuna fish sandwich and a gyro salad. One in our party tried the lemon rice soup which turned out to be the highlight of our visit. All of the fare was quite good. The prices were more than reasonable as with tip, tax and drinks, the price per person was about $9 - $10. This was a pretty good deal.Overall, this place works pretty well for basic fare at a decent price. The service can be a little iffy but the atmosphere is pleasant and the value is more than acceptable. If you are in the area and want a less expensive meal with good portions, this is a solid choice.

This is a good option for a meal in Adrian. The food is pretty good, the service is more than adequate and the atmosphere conveys the feeling of an informal small town restaurant consistent with its location. The prices are quite good making it a decent value.I have been here a few times and have always found it to be good for what it is. I generally like to come in for breakfast but many people like it for lunch or dinner because of their pies, which are very tempting. The external appearance suggests accurately that it is an informal, small town joint. That "dive" image, however, can often times connote a place where you can find some of the best food. The interior is very informal in its styling and offers a certain type of homey comfort frequently associated with that kind of restaurant. In many ways, it is almost anachronistic in a positive way.On my last visit, I came in for breakfast as is my usual practice. I was seated right away and attended to quickly. My server did a very good job of taking care of me during my visit, keeping my coffee cup full while I was there. I had my standard scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes breakfast, which was quite satisfying.My bill was quite agreeable to me. After tip and tax, my total bill was just under $10. These days, that is not a bad deal.Overall, this is a cozy little spot in Adrian for a decent breakfast, lunch or light dinner. The food is good and the pies enjoy a great reputation. The service is good, the atmosphere conveys a hometown feeling and the prices are quite moderate making it a good value. It is worth a try if this type of place appeals to you.
