Unpretentious, delicious, inexpensive authentic Italian fare. We got there early on a weeknight, and as we ate, watched more seniors and families arrive. That's not a knock. This is real Melrose Park, and real Italian food for real people. You can get better, but you can also spend more and not get nearly as good. This is a family operation, and their daily specials are worth considering. I had a sort of melange of vegetables and chicken in a red sauce- have no idea what they called it, except it was named for a family member- and it was delicious. They know in their bones how to prepare and serve pasta and different sauces.

We are regulars to this little but powerful gem in Melrose Park, IL. Similar to Alpine in Elmwood Park, IL, it is a classic Italian deli and sandwich shop that is rapid and delicious. Always fresh food, friendly employees and table space if you desire to dine in. Italian sub is delicious, great portion and can purchase a side or beverage (even bakery cookies, bread or cannoli) to go with it if you would like. The prices are reasonable and they have many selections to choose from. Typical hours are 9 Am til around 4ish, free parallel street parking available, usually two hours or less. Will we return?: Absolutely, with more people to share this location withAttire?: Casual

Great Italian sandwich shop! Very friendly staff. If you ever wondered what real Italian bread, cheese, and cold cuts taste like, you can find out here. I get the sandwich they call the Alpine and it is one of my favorites. Parking is terrible. There is a tiny parking lot that holds 3 cars and the rest is parallel parking on North Ave (you have enter the parking lot from the alley behind the store). You could probably get away with parking at the grocery store across the street or you have to go north into Elwood park and park on a side street. Worth the hassle. Very small dining area, but most people take out. Legendary in Oak Park, River Forest, and Elmwood Park.

So they raise the prices yet again, then they remove the Free Drink and Chips deal on Wednesdays and Sundays. Disappointing. That's too bad. Raising the prices was understandable. Even removing the free drink and chips made sense too. But doing both things became too much. Hard to recommend the place anymore, except they still have a card rewards program. The subs are still good, so I can't complain about that. Late night hours.
