Find out what Deli restaurants to try in Burlington. Vermont's largest and perhaps most cosmopolitan city, Burlington beckons with the perfect blend of old New England charm, arts, culture and nature. Located on the shores of Lake Champlain, between the Adirondack and Green Mountains, Burlington is one of those places you can't help but fall in love with. During the spring and summer, the streets come alive with festivals and outdoor concerts. The picnic benches, playground and bike paths of Leddy Park are filled with warm weather revelers, and opportunities to swim, fish or just kick back on the beach abound. In the fall, the Burlington Bike Path is bustling with leaf peepers who come to view the vibrant autumn colors. In winter, lace up your ice skates and head to the Paquette Arena or grab your skis and head to any of the nearby resorts. Church Street Marketplace, with its early 1900s architecture, great restaurants, live entertainment, one-of-a-kind shops and well-known stores, is the focal point of the downtown area. Anytime of the year is a good time for chocolate. Be sure to stop by Lake Champlain Chocolates for a tour and taste.

Handy's Lunch

Hungry? You won't be after you've eaten a Handy's Big Daddy Breakfast (curious? Come on in to try one!) Or our famous Texas Chili dogs with a side of fries and an ice cold Coke. At Handy's, we make it our mission to not only fill you up with delicious foo

The owner, Earl (and his family) are proud custodians of this long-time treasure. Enter as a customer and leave as a friend. Sit at the horseshoe shaped lunch counter, sit elbow to elbow and enjoy the company of the other diners as well as Earl and his family. The daily specials (patty melts on Tuesday) are outstanding and a great value. The breakfast sandwiches are legendary and large and they get everyone talking. This is not a place where people stare at their phones. They actually engage with one another. Long live Handy's !!!

We were heading to the Lake Champlain to have a picnic and stopped at Great Harvest Bread Company for our food and drink. The sandwich choices will meet anyone's tastes...we all chose different types of sandwiches and we all found them delicious!!! The cheese and toppings assure that they have an endless variety of possible combinations!!! The breads...as you would expect...were especially good. They also offer a large number of dessert items...many disguised as sweets that appear to be good for you.Needless to say, we can recommend that if you are in Burlington...or passing by on the Interstate...and have a desire to go down to Lake Champlain for a nice break from the fast pace to have a picnic...by all means stop here for your picnic supplies!!!

We had the Jamaican avocado and Thai chicken sandwiches. They were outstanding! Cozy, eclectic atmosphere. Caution, this is a place for lovers of great, interesting good; not a place for quick service as each sandwich is carefully constructed. It's also cash only but there is an ATM. We loved it!

Good downtown location, extended hours. Sandwiches made fresh to order, reasonably priced. I like grabbing one in the summer and eating in City Hall Park when there's a musical act, or taking it down to the waterfront for a sunset picnic.Excellent breakfast sandwiches, too!

Live music was the draw for me, but what a revelation. A new favorite in Burlington! NY Deli style sandwiches on great, fresh bread from a local baker. Sandwiches are STUFFED. Take out and outside tables at lunch, unexpectedly "swanky" bar space opens at 4 pm most days. Amazing bar staff, full bar, great beer selection. Great area with small stage in back for live music. A REALLY unique and relatively new addition to the Burlington dining and bar scene. Can't WAIT to go back
