In 1998, a great location and the desire to produce superb pizza led Dan and Ken Bothman to create La Fiamma Wood Fire Pizza. An immediate sensation, Dan and Ken's restaurant was showered with acclaim, winning the Best New Business and Bellingham's Best P
Readers of my reviews are well acquainted with my extensive Napoli pizza experiences, and this pizza does compare somewhat favorably with pizzas in Napoli, especially in the crust department. All of the taste and texture parameters are met, so that is an outstanding success. When it comes to the mozzarella its acceptable but for the money I would have wanted a lot more of it. Where this pizza falls down is in the tomato category. The sauce is overly pasty and the sliced supermarket tomato is just wrong on every level on a margherita. Who thought this was a good idea? Their moisture comes close to ruining the entire pizza. Huge mistake...Otherwise, the service is good, the tables are reasonably spaced, the chairs are aluminum but relatively comfortable, and there is free evening parking on the lot beside the building. So it all adds up to a very good, but unfortunately not excellent.

If you want a good sub (hoagie, hero, grinder), Gandolfoâs will not disappoint. They have lots of varieties served on fresh baked bread. I remember when I first came across Gandolfoâs NY deli in Utah of all places back in the late 80âs. They had two locations, one in Salt Lake and one in Provo. The sandwiches were true NY style subs prepared to perfection. Now they are a pretty big franchise and Iâve seen them in a few states. Although they are not the same as when there were only 2 joints, they still serve good food. This particular location is nice but isnât as quaint as older sites and more strip mall style. However, the owners are very nice and desire to provide great service.

I think it was oversold to me but I just wasn't that impressed. In all fairness, deli's rarely impress me. I ordered the Rueben, it was very skimpy and served with some oily chips and a pickle spear. If you like overpriced sandwiches, I guess you'll like it.
