Kojal is both bigger and better than its modest foyer suggests. The main area is quite spacious but there is also a conservatory section and an outdoor patio. We have enjoyed the "menu" lunch several times. The soup of the day is delivered to your table in a tureen and you help yourself to as much as you want. On this recent visit we chose chicken in potato pancakes (KuÅecà ÅÃzky Ondráš) for the main course. It was nicely prepared and very tasty. Service was fast and friendly. We shall return.

As do most restaurants in Czech Republic, Chalupa u Metske Brany offers a lunchtime "Menu". It changes each day and there is always a soup followed usually by a choice of 4 main courses. The price per person is typically 80 Kc, currently around £2. I have enjoyed many lunches here and have yet to be disappointed. The restaurant has several small rooms giving a comfortable atmosphere. Service is polite and efficient. Check it out.

Although on the site of a previous restaurant this is a brand new establishment. As you might expect it is bright and clean throughout. Service was friendly and efficient. French onion soup was tasty and I followed that with pork tenderloin, mashed potato and courgettes in a creamy sauce. Delicious. We were selecting from the daily menu. Soup, main course and small beer:- change from â¬5. Great value. We shall return.

The Atrium is an attractive hotel with, as the name implies, a skylit central court. Staff are smart and efficient. But sadly the menu is rather uninspiring. My starter of mushrooms on toast was bland, but my main course of chicken breast stuffed with camembert and sun dried tomatoes was nicely presented and quite enjoyable. The local Moravian Aurelius wine was surprisingly different with a crisp but distinctive flavour .And,despite its limitations, the meal was excellent value for money.

There is a limited choice of restaurants in Vyskov, but it doesn't mean that people chose Acapulco for the lack of better alternatives. The restaurant offers good food, friendly staff and - in general - nice atmosphere. As a foreigner I would wish to see in the menu more local dishes, but even this limited selection was enough to have a tasty dinner with good local beer. The staff - at least the ones we had contact with - does not speak perfect English, but it's good enough to have rather smooth evening. All in all, it's a place worth considering if you find yourself in Vyskov. It may not be the 7th heaven, but you will enjoy good food, accompanied by good beer, in a friendly atmosphere. Definitely a safe bet.
