A pleasant restaurant in Beroun, some 20km from Prague. Very kind service. The restaurant has a large non-smoking part. Good meals. We had grilled trout, prepared in our presence on a large grill next to our table. Very good taste indeed. The fish was served with side dishes of coleslaw (zelny salat) and french fries (hranolky). Really worth trying. The wine, Muller Thurgau, was also good for Czech standards. And the price? A real bargain. But that's not uncommon outside Prague.
restaurants or pubs in the village where I am always a bit cautious. Sometimes you get great home made food and good beer, sometimes it may be a big disappointment. This one was fortunately the first case. ( Very likely ) family run business offering several meals. We started with a beef soup and then had pork medallions with fresh mashrooms and we really enjoyed both.Good espresso on top of that. Ok priced, very nice service, quiet outside seating.Nice stop during the trip in the region of Czech Karst.
Usually, it is a very busy place during lunch time since they offer large protions of typical local meals for very good prices. They sell it also as take-away and have some discount schemes.
NavÅ¡tÃvili jsme o vÃkendu poprvé a byli jsme nadÅ¡eni.

If you want homemade dumplings like grandma used to make (well, like mine at least) this is the place to come. I had fall-off-the-bone duck with sauerkraut and dumplings. Everything was cooked perfectly, and of course the beer was delicious. The inside was a little dark and cavern-like but it made for a memorable experience. If you're looking for a traditional Czeck meal done just right, this is the place to come.

This is one of my favorite restaurants serving hearty home made typical Czech fare. Typically they have three to five dishes such as svÃÄková na smetanÄ served with dumplings, whipped cream and cranberries or vepro knedlo zelo (roast pork, dumplings and sauerkraut). There is usually one vegetarian dish on offer too. They also serve tasty and yummy soups with home made bread. On the tap they have beers from local breweries, regularly changed. You will feel at home here from the very beginning. The staff is friendly, courteous and fast. Before the lunch rather then after you can park you car next to the restaurant and take some walks around to Svatý Jan pod Skalou, Bubovické vodopády (waterfalls) Solvayovy lomy.

A 40 odd minute train ride from Prague will take you to Beroun, and on first impressions you may wonder why you bothered. But turn left as you leave the Train Station and follow the sign for Berounsky Medved, which you'll find incongruously in a Scrap Yard. Old Soviet era Military vehicles and an old Trabant make for an interesting approach to this excellent Brewpub. First thing to say is that the beers are excellent, some of the best you'll come across. The food is good, filling and inexpensive. If you go round the side of the building you'll see the wood fired brewery, and there aren't many of those in existence..
