What's on the menu depends on what was delivered in the morning - or not - but this restaurant on Plaza de la Revolución, one of the most authentic places in Cuba, could be the best in town. Staff attitude, service and interior decoration are acceptable, decent even. The food was not bad at all, but it was the loud music that ruined our evening. But we will be back ...
Its a little off the beaten path but worth it! Amazing food. On a third floor terrace very nice for dinner.. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

If you are determined to eat out in Bayamo, this place is probably worth a visit. It is a delightfully atmospheric place, with about 6 or 7 tables, located in an upstairs terrace. The food quality of several of the dishes was very good, although service was painfully slow and the were a number of amateurish lapses. At the end of the meal, the bill was presented in the form of an incomprehensible scroll. Apparently because we had some Spanish skills, the amount in National pesos was accurately translated into CUC and the total was quite reasonable, however the waitress appeared to try to scam the tourists at the next table. Management should step up and inject more professionalism, because this is a shame.

There is a bar and waiting area downstairs and the restaurant is upstairs. We sat for 5 minutes and then were told that our table was ready. I thought that this might be a swanky joint from first glance but we left feeling almost ill and still hungry. We ordered our food and while we waited we tried a bottle of their wine (50 CUP). This had to be the most bogus vino that I ever laid taste to in my life. Seriously, I didn't know whether to drink it, or pour some on the floor, get on my knees and start scrubbing. Mr. Clean has nothing on this product. After a long wait the food finally arrived and we not too thrilled by that either. The nerve of this establishment demanding long pants for men and then serving up a bottle of something that didn't amount to anything more than turpentine.

We popped in for lunch after exploring Bayamo in the morning. It was after Easter and there was some sort of library festival in town. Lots of school children and festivities going on around the square. The restaurant had a choice of 4 meat dishes for mains, a salad or soup entrée and a mango syrup for dessert. The salad was fairly ordinary, the meat dish (we had pork) was tasty, but the mango syrup is an acquired taste. On this day, there was a political meeting going on next door which prevented the all-girl band from performing until near the end of the meal. A pity, because from the small bit we heard, they were quite good. The restaurant overlooks the river ravine and jungle. The restaurant occasionally has small groups.

We ate here a couple of times during our stay in Bayamo. The food was consistently good. They don't stock hard liquor so no Mojitoes but do have beer so I was fine. My wife had bottled water. The waitress we had spoke excellent English and gave us very good service. The food was fresh and hot when it arrived and we enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. If we were going to go back to Bayamo we would go back to the Polinesio.

Group of us arrived for lunch. Menu expensive by Cuban standards. Usual suspects of plaintain, rice, beans, shredded raw cabbage... The fish was describable and unidentifiable . Tasted and looked like cat food. Staff too busy talking to each other to show any interest whatsoever. Most of the group did not even touch their food. Worst food and service in four weeks in Cuba. To be avoided.

Myself & my girlfriend dined here 2 nights we were staying in Bayamo on recommendation of casa, & a number of other locals. My girlfiend is vegetarian & struggled to find a good choice of food in Cuba - the only thing most restaurants would offer would be vegetarian omlette. On the first night, the menu presented to us only had one vegetarian option - spaghetti napolitana. For me, they had a pig on a spit, which was absolutely delicious. When we ordered, we were informed that they had no spaghetti, due to rationings. However, the staff went out of their way to find a suitable dish. The chef agreed to cook a vegetable risotto that wasn't on the menu, which was delicious also. The cheeseballs for starters are also amazing. We were promised at the end of the night, that if we returned the following evening, that the spaghetti shortage issue would be resolved. They also delivered on this promise. The service was always friendly & attentive, even when they were busy & would easily recommend San Carlos to anyone in Bayamo.

We happened on this restaurant by chance after traipsing through the whole town in search of a Coke! The pedestrian walk shops all only accept Pesos Nacional, which we didn't have, and the barman at the hotel was MIA. We wandered into Cuchipapa's and fell in love and vowed to come back later for lunch. The food was great, with a nice variety on offer, and their drinks menu offers some interesting options. Service was very friendly and the decor is very interesting and homely. If I'd stayed in Bayamo longer instead of just passing through, I'd have gone back to this super little place. Of course there were the obligatory musicians followed by the obligatory donation basket, but for once their music was actually very enjoyable.gracias por su opinion, nos complace mucho
