Not many tourists venture outside the city's main drag which is a pity: I was the only foreigner there for dinner. Had a good canchanchara drink and delicious and tender octopus dish with all the trimmings for a very reasonable price. Service was nice and attentive. The terrace affords a paoramic view over the ocean.

We were used to mediocre lunches at state run restaurants so Rancho Toa was a pleasant surprise. The food--especially the roasted pork--was delicious and plentiful. The house drink (a rum citrus mix served in a grapefruit) was refreshingly pleasant and not too sweet. And the musicians were great! A fun time before a pleasant boat ride on the river.

We went to El Poeta with great hopes, having read rave reviews about it in more than one guide book and online. And first part of meal was very encouraging with a salsa appetizer and yummy soup (although the banana paste block left a lot to be desired). Then came the meal; two of us had ordered the lamb, based on online recommendations. The flavor was great but it was so full of gristle and bone, there was little meat to eat. Friends at a neighboring table ordered the grand buffet of several different fish dishes. Big servings but it took more than an hour to be made and brought to table and by then everyone was ready to leave--and food was disppointing considering the long wait. The owner/Poet came by and pour rum through sugar cane to those willing to accept it. But otherwise was disengaged. Seemed like a palador whose time had come and gone. Needs some refreshing to keep up with other restaurants nearby.

La Colonial is charming, with a verandah opening onto the street and a blue and white painted dining room. Very homely and welcoming in style. The food was delicious. I had callalloo and lobster follow up with the yummiest almond ice cream made, I guess, with locally grown almonds.

Ate here with my boyfriend. We both got the pork ribs on the grill. Portions were huge and the quality and taste were good. The only thing that put me off was how salty the meat was. I like salty stuff typically, but oh my goodness... It came with a root vegetable stew, rice, seasonal salad and mariquitas, which were all good. Anyway, I'd go back here to give it another chance. Maybe ask them to go light on the salt just to be safe. Loved the rooftop view!

It's a nice place - interior standards - with lots of Cuban art and artifacts. But we waited such a long time for the meal.

I was here for my birthday and the owner came out with a beautiful cake and the entire staff sang so that was nice. The lamb was everything the reviews said it was. Delicious. Thereâs a nice breeze on the covered porch up top which is where we sat. All-around great place for dinner

As a vegan food is almost imposible to find a place to eat around Cuba. This places is like an oasis for vegetarian - vegan people. But beside that they provide different plates, they use fresh and organic vegetables. Everything is fresh and natural and itâs made in front of you. So far the best food in Cuba. So delicious and flavored dishes. The Mesa Buffet is colorful , aromatic and so good. I should stay more longer in Cuba only for this food.Maximo Gomez the owner is friendly got an amazing talent in his kitchen.

Service was extremely friendly, prompt and helpful, and our meal as good as we were served anywhere in Cuba. We both started with (included) fish soup, followed by swordfish in coconut sauce, both of which were marvellous. The local flan desert (also included) was also one of the best we have ever had. Live music, excellent cocktails and a great atmosphere made for a wonderful and surprisingly inexpensive evening. A must when in Baracoa.
