Food was ok - the service people are not smiling very often . Menu card is in 4 languages. Terrace is direct in the opposite of the street.

Very good as always, service is friendly and helpful, though at times they seemed rushed off their feet and the service was a little slow, but I guess that just leaves more time to enjoy the Ozujsko! Good, generously sized pizzas and decent pasta dishes on offer as well as some local specialities and although the prices seem to have gone up theyâre still reasonable

No visit to Croatia is complete without a traditional "peka" (at least that's the name in the south, I think it may have a different one in Istria, probably with fewer vowels). A classic dish of meat (typically veal or chicken, occasionally octopus) and potatoes, cooked under an iron dome with hot coals shoved on top for several hours. And if you're in Istria, Ograde seems like one of the best places to find it. You'll need to book at least a day ahead, and preferably take a group of 6 or more to get the full experience. The place is nestled at the end of a windy, leafy lane - on the way in you'll pass a couple of cute little holiday homes, which are also fun to stay in if you want to hang around. Arriving at the solid-looking old farmhouse, you'll be welcomed into a snug, cosy dining room with rough wooden tables, feeling very rustic and comfortable. Your feast will probably be sitting in the fireplace finishing off, the coals on top still glowing after 4-5 hours. The momma who runs the place has all sorts of awards for traditional cooking, and is a delight to watch as she clears the coals and reveals the dish in front of her guests. If you go for a starter, it'll probably be some simple homemade bread with superb ham and cheese to nibble on while they put the finishing touches to your main meal. Then comes the main event. It's simply served in a big bowl, maybe with some salad or something as an accompaniment, little more than meat and potatoes with a few tiny herbs or berries. In our case, we had "boskarina", which seemed like beef ribs (apparently it's a local ox breed). The meat was satisfyingly shreddable, but the potatoes are the real joy, awesomely rich and oozy from the juices. With a simple table wine flowing along, the feast is complete. Desserts, in our case some interesting little biscuits, are just there to give you time to recover before you have to head home.

We ate the best âomboloâ in a charming village situated in the Western Istria. The family embraced tradition, catering, and created a family agritourism which offers to the visitors the possibility to enjoy the delicacies of domestic gastronomy. Tips: Try to found this unique tavern in Istria.

We had the local beef pasta. It was delicious! Kids were also well catered for too. Our fussy 13 year old had grilled chicken straight off the fire! The outside balcony has a lovely view, although as it as so busy we had to eat inside!
Driving back from Pazin to Porech on a very wet day we came across this restaurant run by a young couple.Their attitude was quite faultless. The young lady spoke prefect english and was able to translate freely to her partner. We had a simple snack lunch of sandwiches and coffee both of which were freshly prepared and really tasty - just what was needed. As we were there an American lady entered asking for directions. Again, the response was wonderful and clear directions given. This restaurant, as is the norm in Croatia, is spotless. It is a little out of the way but a wonderful stop off on your journey .This young couple deserve a return for the friendship and courtesy they who.

We sat very close to the grilling place, so there was additional joy, watching the cook at his work. The Fiorentina steak was served on a hot plate, just perfectly done. As the side dish there were some potatoes and grilled vegetable. Our friend had grilled beef steak in truffle sauce, with a bit if pasta in truffle sauce. Mmmmm. The kids also had njoki and fuzi Istrian type of pasta also in a truffle sauce. A teenage daughter used the bread to wipe the place empty - that explaines how good it was.

Had dinner here on Friday evening, it wasn't busy when we arrived so very peaceful and relaxing. The service from the young gentleman was excellent, his English was very good and he explained the set menu to us. Nice shot of grappa made by his grandmother was very strong!!! We had the pork with truffles and thus was tender and delicious, strongly recommended. It was the best meal we had in Croatia. Everything was locally produced and made by the family so no Coca-Cola or Fanta much to the dismay of my children! Would definitely re visit.
