Discover Restaurants offering the best Contemporary food in York, England, United Kingdom. Just two hours north of London by rail, the city of York holds 1900 years' worth of history in its ancient walls. The Romans built the city in 71 AD, and the Vikings captured it in 866 AD. Stop by the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens for a look at what the Roman and Vikings left behind (they must have packed light when they left). From there, move on to the York Castle Museum for a not-so-quick overview of the most recent 400 years.

Great range of tapas and plenty of vegetarian options.Specials board too with a another great section. Service was extremely friendly and efficient. The majority of our tapas were delicious especially the mushroom croquettes, wow, they were amazing. The patatas bravas however were quite a disappointment, the cubes of potato were too big, sauce rather bland and not much of it.Will definitely return we are in York next time and look forward to trying other things on the menu. Such great value for money and lovely cosy ambience.Thank you so much for the feedback! We are so sorry about the Patatas, this really isn't something we hear, its usually people asking for the recipe! We will certainly investigate this. See you again soon!

A dining by surprise experience of our 'blind' Menu Aveugle, with a modern European influence. Our menu changes daily, according to the fresh produce available to Head Chef Josh Overington from his carefully selected growers and producers.
This small space has hard uncompromising surfaces, black brown and clinical white, no frills or softness here, and on a rainy Saturday lunchtime it seemed bleak and lacked any charm. The service was friendly and professional. The bread and wine were very good . Clearly a lot of care and refinement goes into the preparation and presentation of the food. However, portions are in ingenerously small, the nasturtium icecream in the starter was no more than a teaspoonful and the piece of rump lamb for the main course was not only inadequate in size but also of no great quality either in taste or texture. The slipsole with vadouvan butter was however deliciously fresh. It is not reasonable to regard a bonne bouche and bread and butter as a course so the small set lunch at £55 is in effect 4 courses which, even by London standards, I did not think was good value."Trinity "at Clapham Common or Roux at the Landau are better value and have given me more satisfaction.

Substantial English breakfast served here, but also some surprising and delicious alternatives including vegetarian and vegan options. I had a breakfast burrito which although it was delicious I struggled to finish it was so big. I tried my best though. There were other things I would have loved to try but sadly it was our last day in York. A bit off the beaten track, but well worth the 10 minute walk from the city centre. Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about Osborne's we appreciate it very much. Hope you will call again next time you come to York.

First impressions was fantastic lovely room and fabulous grounds, friendly and helpful staff from then on it was downhill. The seasonal menu was reasonably priced the trouble was there was little choice one vegetarian, one fish, and one meat course which was the same on both nights if you did not like anything on the menu the only option was to go Al a carte which was very one expensive. On the second night we had booked a table for 7pm as one of our party did not like eating late. We did not start eating until 9pm! which was not at all good. Wine also on the pricey side.
