Find out what Contemporary restaurants to try in Washington. Washington is a town in and the county seat of Rappahannock County, Virginia, United States. The site of this town was surveyed by George Washington himself in July 1749. It was the first of what would be many American places to be named after the future first president. Its population was just 135 people at the 2010 census, down from 183 in the 2000 census. It is nicknamed Little Washington to avoid confusion because of its proximity to Washington, D.C., which lies only 70 miles (110 km) to the north east.

There is probably not much more one can say about The Inn. It has truly earned a Michelin 3 start rating. This is a bona fide French 3 stars not the Americanized version. Having spent many years in Paris and having eaten at a number of Michelin starred restaurants, I think I can say that The Inn is legitimately at that level. From the 14k bottle cave to the exquisite menu and the delightful and attentive service, The Inn truly is worthy. This is a special occasion restaurant, there is no doubt about that. Pair it with a night at the Inn and youâll have a wonderful and memorable celebration. We did.

Imagine this: you've been hiking in Shenandoah National Park for a couple of days and now you're on the way home. You're hot. It's hot outside. It's way past time for lunch. A vintner recommends Tula. You walk in and are greeted warmly. It's okay that you've got on your hiking boots and shorts even though the next table is filled with five nicely dressed people. The menu is short and sweet and filled with tempting items, but then you learn that there's a tomato cobbler special. You can have it savory or you can have it sweet for dessert. Tomato cobbler? Yep. The perfect July food. Tomatoes fresh from the garden. Goat cheese. Balsamic vinegar. And a perfect -- not too thick, not to thin -- crust. Delicious. If only Tula were in my neighborhood.
