Ventnor (/ˈvɛntnər/) is a seaside resort and civil parish established in the Victorian era on the south east coast of the Isle of Wight, England. It is situated south of St Boniface Down, and is built on steep slopes leading down to the sea. The higher part is referred to as Upper Ventnor (officially Lowtherville); the lower part, where most amenities are located, is known as Ventnor. Ventnor is sometimes taken to include the neighbouring settlements of St. Lawrence and Bonchurch.

Ventnor is a feast for all the senses, especially during the Fringe. Where to eat between gigs? Stripped was our target. The rustic interior, a bank I never used when I lived in Ventnor during the 1980s, has a 'trendy London' feel, albeit in a positive, and not monetary way. The food was great, service attentive and friendly. Not the place for a quiet meal, but perfect for a cultural night out in one of the Island's loveliest towns.

Called into Chale Green Stores to pick up some lunch from the Deli & Cafe which is at the back of the Store/Post Office. Greeted by a very friendly and helpful member of staff who explained the price of takeaway food is £2 cheaper than listed on the Cafe menu. There was a good choice of sandwiches or baguettes, quiche, scotch eggs, savoury tarts and sausage rolls. We chose sausage rolls (delicious)which were heated up by the Chef in the kitchen, a scotch egg (huge with runny yoke) and slice of quiche (not heated and a bit lacking in flavour). The latte coffee was delicious. There was also a selection of cakes available. The small cafe overlooks a garden and I noticed a plaque on the wall saying it had been officially opened by Alan Titchmarsh.Well worth a visit. Good parking at front of Store.

The Royal Hotel has achieved 2 AA Rosettes for excellent food for over 17 consecutive years and has appeared in every Michelin Good Food Guide since it's inception in 1911. Lunch and afternoon tea are served daily in our beautiful, Colonial-style conserva
We had Sunday lunch here.i ordered Roast Loin of Pork.It came in a large hunk rather thn slices and only warm. There were four or five tiny blobs of apple sauce, about the size of 5p coins. The only veg on the plate was parsnip. The loin and parsnips were charred/burnt on the outside. When I say burnt I donât mean browned, they were black and the pork was dry. There were no dishes of alternative vegetables.i was very disappointed as the hotel is quite highly rated and th meals are very expensive.Dear Chuckle 3369We are very sorry that you found the Roast Pork to be substandard on your recent visit to the Royal, for the past two years we have served the Pork on the Sunday Lunch menu as one piece rather than thinly sliced as we have found it retains the moisture better. We are always pleased to serve side dishes of vegetables if requested and extra apple sauce is available. Our Sunday lunches have never been busier and the majority of the guests are regulars. We are not the cheapest venue for lunch but we do offer traditional service and source the majority of our ingredients from local suppliers. We do hope you will return for lunch in the future.

We went there when trying to find a place for lunch in Ventnor; the place is attractively decoarated, with friendly staff, and the sausage roll was one of the best I'd had. The only downside was that they don't accept credit cards, so you need to bring cash with you.Thank you for your review. We are currently looking into taking credit cards, and finding a package that best suits us and our customers. Hope it wasn't too inconvenient for you, and hope to see you again.
