Reviews on Contemporary food in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, United States. A ski town that is also an authentic ranching center, Steamboat Springs is more down home than glitzy. Cowboy hats and ski boots are equally welcome on the city's friendly streets. The place where downhill skiing first flourished in the United States, Steamboat Springs remains a premiere slopes destination. But the town also offers outdoor recreation of every stripe and season. And after a long day hiking, schussing or shopping, you can relax in one of the natural hot springs for which the town was named.

My wife and I were enjoying a nice Labor Day weekend getaway and several people recommended this restaurant. I am so happy they did.Forget the casual dress code; this restaurant is a fine dining experience from beginning to end.I have been fortunate to have enjoyed some of the finest restaurants in the world and Café Diva would not be out of place among them. The dishes are well-designed and very well-prepared.I started out with the crab bisque. Very nice creamy tomato flavor with a hint of pepper. I would have liked a little more crab flavor to provide that bit of sweetness, maybe larger chunks of meat? I enjoyed it very much though. For my entrée I had the halibut which was absolutely delicious. The fish itself was clearly a nice piece of fish to start. Cooked well, great flavor and texture. The lemon, salt & pepper was so simple, but complemented the flavor of the fish so nicely. This was one of the best halibut experiences I have had.My wife had scallops and really enjoyed them. I don’t do scallops, but I tried a bit of the sauce, potatoes and corn. Delicious. The corn provided a nice sweet flavor that worked so well with the savory flavors of the rest of the dish. For dessert I simply opted for a pour of Macallan and a scoop of vanilla gelato. I had chocolate the night before and nothing else struck my fancy. This is a simple standby and I was pleased that they had my favorite Scotch. The service is impeccable and friendly. Their staff are clearly very well trained. We will definitely be back.

Group of 8. Order inside, staff delivers to table. Various sandwiches ordered by group. Chicken panini was average, a little bit dry. Perfectly fine for a slope side meal. Cheesesteak ordered by son was “good.” Hubs had the Reuben and enjoyed the house made sauerkraut.

Hospitality 101: don’t pick up the phone and go through an entire conversational reservation process while forcing your guests to stand in front of you waiting to be seated. It makes a very bad 1st impression, especially from an (apparent) manager. Otherwise service was decent, not outstanding. Ambiance ok, but overheating makes it uncomfortably warm. Only one Champagne by glass, overpriced. Food uneven: French onion soup ok, poached lobster was pretty awful (not fresh), ridiculously overpriced lamb (all 4 bites of it) served with underdone lentils, good sticky toffee pudding. We apologize you did not enjoy your dinner at Harwigs. We try and give all our guests equal and individual attention and sometimes that time overlaps, as it did when the host was on the phone with another customer as you arrived. The host did not want to be rude on the phone and felt it was best to finish one conversation so they could give you their full attention. Additionally, we are sorry you did not enjoy your meal, our French Onion Soup is one of our most popular dishes. We poach our lobster every day for that evening’s service so we guarantee freshness and pride ourselves in providing the best and freshest food possible. We source our lamb from a prestigious Colorado farm and we butcher the racks in house to 7-8 ounce portions, which is usually a sufficient amount of food for most guests. Should you choose to try Harwigs again, we would appreciate the opportunity to change your opinion and provide you with quality service and product.
