The atmosphere, staff and vibe of our Tonka dinner was everything you'd expect and more. The cocktails were extremely well done and complemented the Indian flavours perfectly. The food itself was good but the larger dishes were lacking some spice. As a lover of Indian food I have had better but I'm glad I experienced Tonka as it was a great experience and lives up to the hype.

Upon opening our doors in 2009, we were thrilled to receive the The Age Good Food Guide's 'HatAward' and have maintained it ever since. Complementing these achievements, we are very proud of Head Sommelier, Travis Howe, who not only won Sommelier of the Y
We didnât make a reservation and on a Monday night they told us they were fully booked and only bar seats were available. The bar had approximately 10-12 seats of which only 2 were occupied and the receptionist man placed on the the end right on the two seats right next to the kitchen. We should have left then but I asked the server if we could move to the seats facing the kitchen and she was very nice and allowed us to move away from the kitchen seats to bar seats facing the kitchen. We had read a review and the restaurant had been highly recommended as a Vietnamese Asian restaurant with a twist. We had the bug tempura, the kimchi was tasty but it would have been better if the tempura batter was not so thick and fried a bit longer until it was cooked completely. To be honest there was more tempura than bug. We had the scallops as they were local, these were not big and were over cooked. The sauce was not a delicate Asian sauce it was more gluey and tasted of flour, definitely didnât have any Asian feel to it other than the few bits of salmon roe added on top. We had the baked fish, it was great, tasty and fresh. Overall our review is mixed the receptionist was not professional but the serving staff were great. The food was inconsistent but at that price we were expecting a little bit more. By the way when we left there were still empty tables so we didnât know why we were asked to sit on the bar tables closest to the kitchen. Recommend you make a booking to get a table if you are a couple.

Popped in here on a wet day with a colleague and were seated tucked away in this quite intimate restaurant. The most unusual thing about the restaurant was the menu consisted of just 4 entree and 4 main course choices,The 3 specials were all soups. But the choices were all very choosable. The caesar salad was generous and freshh and the service quite seamless.

1806, the year that defined the Cocktail. Since its humble beginnings in 2007, 1806 has very quickly reached international recognition, winning the award for The Worlds Best Cocktail Menu in 2008. Since then it has become firmly steeped in the Melbourne c
I booked a whisky tasting for my husband's birthday. The tasting was done by our wonderful guide Yasmin, who took us through the very interesting history of whisky in the beautiful setting that is 1806. We enjoyed whisky samples paired with lovely food, and finished off with cocktails. I would definitely recommend this to anyone seeking something different.

Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder is one of Melbourne's most established cafes - housed in a carefully restored Victorian building dating from 1860, on one of Melbourne's busiest shopping strips, Bridge Road.
A very good friend selected this well known venue for a late breakfast....well call it brunch. Parking is always a challenge being right opposite the Epworth hospital. Going towards the city the clear way stops at 10:00am and I was surprised to find a number of available car parks on a paid meter or via the PayStay app.We sat inside along the main window. There is also good outside seating. My soy latte was alright but not fantastic. No coffee art, for my taste too hot and consequently the milk wasnât textured right. I opted for sour dough toast with marmalade and had to ask for butter. I received a generous 3 slices (2 would have been all I needed) but interesting the jam was just enough for 2 slices.Considering the café wasnât very full, the service was patchy. Regardless, the café and larder has a great feel and a must to walk into the temp controlled cheese room....making this place an institution after all.
