Boutique vineyard/winery
We visited in June with out of town visitors and were very impressed with the wine, the friendliness, the platters and the views, so we decided to take other visitors there over the long weekend just gone. The wines are still lovely and the views are magnificent. The rest fell way short this time. The wine tasting started ok with a guy who was knowledgable and customer friendly but part way through we were passed to a young guy who knew nothing about the wines and did not try to interact with us, suggest other tastings or anything, just stood there in a daydream. Once we were finished, we ordered a platter for 4 and 4 glasses of wine. After sitting outside for 15 mins, we asked if our wine would be much longer (they were not busy). He sheepishly admitted that he had forgotten. After an hour had gone by we asked how much longer our platter would be. Another embarrased reaction and the platter arrived 15 mins later. No explanation or apology given for the delay. Again, only 2 other tables were occupied so no obvious reason for the delay. The platters were also very underwhelming compared to what we got last time. Priced at $88 for 4 people, they seemed very overpriced for the content which was quite basic. We felt we had to keep apologising to our guests for the service and ther platters, explaining that it was far superior the last time we came. We would not have taken them there if we knew how it was to be this time. We are local but wont be taking any more guests here until we get a reassurance that things have improved.

We stopped at Ransom for a decadent lunch on our honeymoon and we were not dissapointed. The winery is stunning, inside and out. It's elegant but not so much that it makes you uncomfortable. We ordered their signature platter and 2 tasting paddles. The platter blew us away. It was pricey but after seeing it and devouring the entire thing, I have to say it was money well spent. The manager was friendly and very accommodating of our 2 year old, giving her a high chair and colouring-in textas. Overall, hands down it was the best winery dining experience we have both ever had and we've had at least 50. 10/10.... a must do!
Most Popular Wine Bar food in Matakana, Auckland, North Island
Have heard some great things about this new place so was really looking forward to trying the food. Lovely location and the food smelled great. It was very busy, so they took a while to take our order (fair, when they were so busy) but then the food never came, after over 45 mins we asked and realised that they hadn’t put our order through. I know that happens, but from about 25 mins after ordering we had been catching the waitresses eye, and had seen several wait staff, at different times, pointing at the table and discussing (so we had assumed they were aware of us!). We were sitting right in the middle where all of the staff walked past us. Even if they forgot to put our order through I would have expected someone would have had the initiative to realise we were sat there, foodless and coffeeless for so long. We were in too much of a rush to wait after that so never got the chance to try the food
