The Art School Restaurant is completely unique. We have tried to embrace the features of the original building and have blended in modern facilities. With warm lighting, a viewing window through to the kitchen, a relaxing bar and a fabulous dining area. S

Was a pleasant evening till a very loud group sat down next to us. To make it worse, when we ordered the chocolate fondant we were told it was finished for the day. Reason transpired the group next to us had pre-ordered this dessert. On balance, no reason to return till they improve on these issues.Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I apologise that the guests who arrived at Puffin' Rooms were a little rowdy. I hope to welcome you back to Puffin' Rooms If you would like to contact me on [email protected] to discuss the matter further, please feel free. James Murphy

Restaurant serving modern European small plates with eight tap beers and Low intervention wines.
But well worth the effort. Stripped minimalist boho decor, sweet and attentive staff, fab cooking. Cleverly thought out, constructed and presented dishes. Better size description would be appreciated, as we slightly over ordered, which makes us feel greedy. Also, we had no room for dessert, which looked v good ! Great bread. Super sea bass crudo with plum carpaccio and pumpkin seeds. Lovely fresh sardines with harrisa, excellent Menai mussels. Crayfish tails with shredded white cabbage. Fantastic small plate eating, every bit as good as Glasgow's "Ox and Finch", or London's "The Frog". Imaginative and delicious. With tip and bottle of wine, £40 each, a real bargain for food of this standard. They obviously are passionate about what they do and deserve success. If in Liverpool you MUST go. Only other caveat is opened bottles of wine arring at table. OK, this is not a stuffy, silver service resto, bit it is still good etiquette to bring bottle to table, show the label, and for a nominated diner to sample taste. I prefer that tradition.....oh and grilled orange and lemon chunks......why ? No good as accompaniments as too hot to squeeze and not pretty as garnishes.....very milennial
