After nice wine tasting we enjoyed Newton-Johnson lunch. For starters tuna was great with stylish sides. But mains, lamb shoulder and sunflower 'risotto' were even better. These combined with great local beer and fine wines, yummy!Friendly service, great view over the valley and to sea.

The setting is wonderful especially on a mild winter afternoon with sun streaming onto the verandah. The food certainly matched the setting and the service we received from Nick was great. Top choice from our selection went to the Lamb, with Chocolate Brownies coming a close second. Did not do a full wine tasting because of our drive back home, but left with a couple of good value boxes of wine.

We visited for supper and could not made a better decision. The food was awesome and delicious. This restaurant is vegetarian and vegan friendly, so I did not have any single problem with the order. Our waitress, Chloe, was just perfect, she took so much care! I highly recommend this restaurant and hope to be back soon.

Pity about the food and service. Two starters of mushroom & gruyere crostini and beetroot fritter were average tasting and short on the cheese. Pork belly with onion mash and stir-fry veggies were described by our waitress (twice) and subsequently ordered (at R170.00) and the chicken ballotine, described as a version of roulade (at R145.00). thus ordered. The pictures refer: no onion mash, the "stir-fry" was a few green beans but all awash in the over-powering sauce. The "ballotine" (that is usually chicken thigh) was an overcooked and dry chicken breast and the leeks were so tough that they could not be cut. The waitress argued that I did not order the mash and the manager offered nothing to address our experience. Also, the white wine was served only "cool" thus ice was required to chill, not good for a nice wine! The menu showed slow-cooked lamb shank for R275.00......gotta be joking!... Never again.

This restaurant will need to up itâs game to stay in the same league as other restaurants I ate at during my two weeks in South Africa. The service, while friendly, was terribly slow and we had to chase the waiter several times to find out when it would be ready. When the mains finally arrived, the food tasted nice but it was over priced for what we got. I ordered the seafood linguine which consisted of pasta mainly with a few scattered prawns and clams! It has potential but there are better place to eat in the area. Dear LoolieSorry to have disappointed. Your review jars with the vast majority of the feedback we get. Our apologies if the service was slow, the waiters are trained to advise that the chef prepares our dishes from scratch. As for value, the creamy pasta with prawns, fish and clams for the equivalent of â¬8,00 typically elicits very positive feedback regarding the excellent portion and value from mosts guests. We note you like burgers, pizza and beer; happily, there are a host of budget eateries in Hermanus.

A warm welcome, all from the staff get a thumbs up, in a cosy place which we found via TripAdvisor. The food was good the wine too. One advise for improvement. The tables are tiny already for two guests. If you order a bottle of white wine as we did, it needs to be chilled. Placing the cooling on the floor close to the guests feet is not suitable. Consider a table mountable wine bucket or at least a wine chiller stand.
