Under new management we are a family, dog friendly pub at the hub of the local community. Great home cooked menu and awesome specials board with great drink offers. A warm welcome awaits you.
I have been to this pub 4 times now and the food has been great every time. Reasonably priced, not too long a wait, looks good, hot and very tasty. It looks home cooked and the puddings are lovely. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Went with my mum in law for mothers day she is in a wheelchair and the facilities were very good for her. Really nice atmosphere and friendly, well worth a try.

It is a restaurant which is part of The Bear Hotel and it is open to non - residents as well.
Ok, so good & bad points, honestly reviewed:Good: enormous comfy bed. Evening meal & breakfast of high quality. Hot & fresh, very good. Batman/waiter very nice and friendly.Bad points: whole place needs renovating. Carpets on stairs threadbare. Check in staff too busy chatting to other members of staff, rather than liaising with guests. Needs a good clean.Summary: booked bed & breakfast, both good for price. Typical of Old English Inns, just need major spend on renovations to keep up with rival establishments.Thank you for your review. Great that you enjoyed the breakfast and you found the staff friendly. I will address the not so good points.

A friend who visited the college on work invited us here and what a find. Lovely ambience and excellent food, from the bread rolls to the desert. Limited menu but the four of us had three different dishes. They were all delicious. My only gripe was that in my opinion the accompanying potatoes and vegetables didn't go with all the dishes. Wine and drinks are well priced. The front of house students are well presented and discreetly supervised. Three course meal with wine and coffee for four people was £71. This is definitely the best of the catering restaurants locally. Thank you Chris for the wonderful feedback, we will share with our students.

My wife chose the barley mow for her birthday lunch, it was a glorious sunny day which made it even better. We were greeted by lovely friendly staff, the menu was studied closely by us both. My wife thought she would go for the lamb burger, but then as there was a goats cheese salad one of her favourites on the menu she would choose that instead, but she also wanted some of the chunky chips as well, so I told her stick to it & donât change to which she was more than pleased when it arrived.I myself had a bacon & Brie baguette with salad & also with chips which was delicious. We both felt a bit stuffed, but she wasnât quite finished she wanted to share a crunchie sundae so chose one and took ourselves outside to eat it.All in all a lovely day, sheâs now just opened the Prosecco as she says âwell it is my birthdayâ. On a rainy Friday while on holiday, a leisurely lunch seemed a good idea. The Richmond Arms is charming and welcomes dogs. We were seated immediately and took ages to select from the menu as everything sounded great. The scallop starter with pineapple was amazing, as was my Chorizo scotch egg. Mains of Sucking Pig and a cut of Pata Negra were outstanding. Desserts were equally different and divine. Good wine list, attentive friendly service and good value for money considering the excellent standard. Loved it! It surprises and delights.
