Sycamoreâs mission is to provide seasonal, market-driven fare at affordable prices for the Columbia community. Our focus is to serve fresh, quality dishes prepared in a creative, healthful way. Our staff is trained in all aspects of the menu and wine serv
The food here is very good. We had a group for a business dinner and our service was not very good. It took a long time to get drink orders, food arrived at different times (even those having salads prior to entrees), the automatic gratuity was not really earned.I would still recommend Sycamore for a nice meal. With good service this is consistently a 4-5 star experience. Unfortunately for our last visit it was not that case.Food not coming out at the same time, and drinks taking too long...these issues are not the fault of your server, who, in my opinion, likely earned the automatic gratuity. These are issues that are my fault, as the owner. For not having enough staff in the kitchen, and bar, to handle the volume of business we must have been experiencing. So that I can review the situation, and work to keep it from happening again, when were you here? Thanks, Sanford Speake, owner

We arrived about 30 minutes before the dinner rush on a Friday night before the first football game of the season. Our waiter was Nick and he was excellent, keeping our table clear and beverages refilled. We ordered the chicken nachos platter as an appetizer. Try turkey platter size which could be an entree, there was that much food. Nachos, covered with grilled chicken, black beans, corn, jalapenos, diced tomatoes, black olives, and cheese. It was fabulous. My grandson ordered the New Orleans pasta (shrimp, sausage, onions, green peppers in a cajun alfredo sauce over penne pasta) which he all but inhaled. My dinner consisted of the 8oz. Top sirloin steak, loaded baked potato, and steamed broccoli. Steak was properly cooked at medium rare with plenty of steamed broccoli. The baked potato was cooked well but served lukewarm with only sour cream and cheese. Not my idea of loaded. It was an overall excellent meal. Appetizer, entrees, beverages, and tip (for 2) totalled right at $44.00.

Room 38 Restaurant and Lounge is Columbiaâs premiere venue for dining, entertainment, and special events. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Columbia, Room 38 is within walking distance from local hotels, live music and performing arts venues,
We had an early dinner at Room 38 on a Saturday evening. It is not a large place, but it has a nice ambience. Nice selection of beers on tap. Though it is in downtown Columbia, they do have an outdoor seating area that is enclosed in the winter. We had the jalapeno crab rangoon sticks for an appetizer and they were very good. Since they are a "small plate" type of restaurant, we shared the salmon skewers and the ahi tuna nachos. The salmon was good but I was not a fan of the nachos. That is mostly my fault for not asking about the temperature. I am not a sushi person, so the cold tuna nachos was not to my taste. My wife liked them better than I. Because of that, I cannot say I had an enjoyable meal. To be fair, that is more our menu choice than a reflection of the restaurant. They are known for their brunch, so we will have to return sometime and give that or other menu items a try.Hi there! I wanted to thank you for your honest review, but I was curios as to why you rated us 3 stars if the menu choice was the issue? if you truly feel we earned a 3 star review I'd love to know more about why, but I hope you understand that it's not just your opinion that you're sharing, rather a public rating of our establishment. We work very hard to uphold our reputation and a 3 star review reflects poorly for our public image. Please let me know if there's anything else that affected your experience with us that I should know about? I'd love to make sure the next time you're in that your experience is nothing but a 5 star worthy one! Billy Giordano
