Caldas da Rainha (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈkaɫdɐʒ ðɐ ʁɐˈiɲɐ]) is a medium-sized city in western central Portugal in the historical province of Estremadura and the district of Leiria. The city serves as the seat of the larger municipality of the same name and of the Comunidade Intermunicipal do Oeste (OesteCIM, Intermunicipal Community of the West). At the 2011 census, the municipality had a population of 51,729 in an area of 255.69 square kilometres (98.72 sq mi), with 27,378 residing in the city. Although the city itself lies about 10.5 kilometres (6.5 mi) inland, three of the municipality's civil parishes lie on the Atlantic Ocean. Caldas da Rainha is best known for its sulphurous hot springs and ceramic pottery.

What a fantastic first dinner in Portugal! The Gold dinner for two had four different steaks, five sides... Of which the spiced black beans were terrific. Comes with various sauces for the meat, but the meat was so flavorful you didn't need the sauces,. A nice bottle of regional wine and a tawny port completed the meal. Wow...just wow!

If you are interested in learning more about Portuguese wines and trying some deliciously prepared Portuguese food, crafted by passionate souls, well, you might want to eat here! The owners and Chef love to create a âtasting menuâ for you, paired with local wines. Miguel is very generous with his vast knowledge of Portuguese wines, his wife Magdalena, makes amazing desserts and the Chef is a great talent.The duck pie, the tuna empanadas with mango chutney, the chocolate torte..... well everything put before us was an absolute delite!We absolutely love this place and canât wait to come back.

Yes this place is noisy and busy. Its just like being in a hotel buffet. If you are prepared for that then overall its a great experience. There are soups/salads/starters and a choice of about 10 main meals fish/meat/veg with rice/chips/pasta/potatoes. There is a huge range of desserts and one drink is included in the price. The chefs constantly refill the food and it is kept at a good hot temperature. We enjoyed all the food and had no concerns about hygiene. Its great to just eat at your own pace and actually despite the busyness it is not chaotic and well managed. You simply cannot beat this for value!
