Reviews on Contemporary food in Bordighera, Liguria, Italy. Known as the City of Palms, scenic seaside Bordighera is the proud supplier of fronds to the Vatican every Palm Sunday. Just a few miles from the borders of both Monaco and France, floral Bordighera has been a favorite resort destination for British visitors since the 19th century, when Queen Victoria herself was a guest. The town has many lovely gardens (like Pallanca and Winter), an archaeological museum (the Bicknell) and a lovely old town, but most come for the beach and seafront promenade.

During an 8-night stay in Apricale with our young adult children, we twice enjoyed having dinner at Marco Polo. Dining there is a truly remarkable experience. The first night we hopped about the menu. Everything was fantastic. The second night, we all enjoyed the Ocean Menu. Each course was AMAZING. This chef innovates at the intersection of the Mediterranean Sea and the hinterland of Liguria. Perhaps this is perfectly illustrated by one of the Ocean Menu coursesâravioli with rabbit and sea urchin, fresh burrata, thyme. (Upon our return from the trip, we reminisced by each sharing our singularly favorite bite of the entire multi-city journey. Every person who received the ravioli cited this dish as his/her favorite dish of the trip.) The entire experience is wonderful. Lovely restaurant, immediately on the sea with beautiful views of the coast. Very warm and professional service. Perfect wine recommendations/selections. The dining experience is layered and unfolds with surprises (amuse bouche, palate cleanser, etc.) that Iâll decline to elaborate upon so you may perhaps enjoy the delight of the completely unexpected, delicious morsel arriving to your table. Iâve posted a photo of the Ocean Menu. Other beautiful full menus are available, too, as well as à la carte selections. Salt-encrusted sea bassâ¦langoustineâ¦lobster fricassee pastaâ¦leeks with razor clams and black truffleâ¦red mulletâ¦fritto mistoâ¦the pistachio gelatoâ¦the tarte tatinâ¦delicious! My photos of the plates do not do them justice so I wonât post them, but images may be found on Facebook (Diego Pani) and Instagram (dede_pani). When a visitor to the area, please make a point to experience this restaurant early in your stay so youâre able to return and enjoy it againâ¦and again. We simply canât wait to return.

Anna and Emanuele again surpassed our expectations with their refined gourmet tasting menu. The interesting thing of this restaurant is that everything is made of the some of the simplest ingredients yet of the highest possible quality.Everything comes with a detailed explanation, the combination of the ingredients virtuous and the wines assorted with the dishes.Worth a long long drive...

An intimate and welcoming. Located in the city center near the station. Mediterranean cuisine, fine wines and friendly staff and qualified. A restaurant ideal for a romantic evening but also for a reunion between friends.
The typical Ligurian menu up and down the coast is about as predictable as the standard Chinese restaurant list. The real difference comes in the quality of the ingredients and the execution. On these measures, La Musa is worthy of your consideration. Add the pleasant service, simple but elegant interior and a few more adventurous dishes and it adds up to a desirable venue, at least for lunch. We have always felt the standards are more demanding the closer you get to the French border, and while we were here, nearly all the other patrons were French, a further sign of culinary approval.A sformatina of artichokes and a fried Camembert appetizer both were satisfying appetizers. Our mains, lightly fried calamari, prawns and vegetables; and an Orata filet, Ligurian style were both satisfying. We were too full for dessert, but did have espresso. While Illy is usually smooth and satisfying, theirs was a little on the bitter side. It appears that half the menu is on the pizza side of the equation, ad at this point we can't express any opinion on its success. We would consider going back to this fairly priced and modest main street location, a five minute walk from the train station.
