A very good restaurant in Bodegraven. I particularly liked the lambs neck, that I never had before. Very good that they use the Green Egg in a creative way, the smoked duck was very good. A minor criticism is that they used egg yolk sauce for an appetizer and middle dish, although that was indicated I only realized later it was a bit too much of the same. Anyway I thought the egg yolk sauce was not a good fit with the smoked duck, it fitted well with the steak tartare. They also serve very nice whines, especially the desert whine Rivesaltes Ambre was excellent.

To get to the place you need to survive some narrow roads with (small) canals on both sides. But once you'r there is worth the trip. Nice formula with small dishes for sharing & tasting. Wide selection and all tasting good. Staff is qualified and know what they are doing. Nice atmosphere as well. Good value for money. Will we be back? Yes for sure.

The cheese market is held every Thursday. It is what the locals do to entertain the tourists. The demonstrations given show how cheese was bought through clapping if hands with the buyer. Everyone is wearing colourful traditional dress. The market place is vibrant with chimes from the town hall clock makes for a wonderful experience. After walking around the square we decided where to have a coffee. The coffee was excellent and accompanied with traditional apple pie and cream. The place was so good we doubled back later for lunch picking a prime spot to people watch at the same time. The Gouda soup was perfect. It came with a couple of pieces of bread and ordered with a glass of wine and local beer. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. Our waitress spent time taking to us and we never felt rushed. It was very laid back. Two American tourist sat at the next table discussing what they should order. I suggested the Gouda soup. They were of course delighted. One not to be missed. Now how do you make it?

Goede kwaliteit eten in een supergezellige sfeer. Een aanrader als je in Woerden wilt eten.
We at outdoors on a perfect warm summer evening. No problem speaking English and we were given the menu in English, though so much of it was clear to non Dutch speakers anyway. The food was really good, everything perfectly cooked portioned and balanced. One tiny oddity was the curry flavoured mayonnaise on the fritjes - great if that is all you are having but accompany a clue cheers quiche or my Tornados, not quite right. The wines were unknown to us but the waitress was helpful and knowledgeable. We ended up with an excellent wine which went very well with our meals. It was nice that the salads were not over-dressed. This is a restaurant offering class in the food and service, with no fuss and a very friendly approach.
