Things to do in Ya'an
假日小镇在雅安文化路上,算是雅安比较繁华的一条路了,走累了随便找家店休息,但是这家餐馆感觉比较一般,就适合随便吃吃,上菜倒是挺快的,其他没什么亮点
Hot Pot
With many hot pot restaurants to choose from in Ya'an, this one offers a smaller dining room with a nice feeling. The owners are very talkative and attentive. The fish that you can eat are kept in a flowing tank just meters away from your table. Boiled fish are certainly not my favorite, but it is worth a try. They do have a few odd choices to choose from such as solidified blood. Just be sure to try it all because its worth the experience. Better with groups of 4 or more.PROS: Good atmosphere, odd foods, talkative owners.CONS: Specialize in fish not other meats, on the far eat of town.
Cai Po Po offers a multitude of hearty Sichuan dishes, but the service is not superb. I enjoy going here with friends and family, but every time we do, we are scalded for trying to bring our own bottle of imported spirits. They end up turning the other way, but it still isn't a warm way to begin a meal. I keep returning to the Cai because they are local and they have a moderately clean dining room that is sometimes hard to come by in Ya'an. I'd give them 4/5, except they never seem to have any potatoes to make my favorite dish.

My family and I travel to Ya'an every year for 6 months studying panda bears for our work and scholastic responsibilities. Ya'an has several hundred noodle shops, but this is by far the best one. The owner, Mr. Cheng, operates the shop with his wife and they are the most generous people on earth. My first visit was last year and this was all I could think about before coming back again this year. All I have todo is make the hand signal for a bull by holding my hands to my temples and they know what I want. My 2 year old always gets the noodles with no spice and she loves them. Best part about everything in Ya'an is that it's cheap. My entire family eats at Mr. Cheng's for 19 yuan or about $3.If you go, be sure to tell them that Mr. Nate sent you. This will bring a smile to his face and then he will try to offer you a cigarette for your travels. When you get to bayi rd., there is a fruit shop on the corner, then two noodle shops to the right. Mr. Cheng's is the second one. Look for the multiple pine tables and chairs. Feel free to contact me if you need directions or other recommendations for Ya'an.
