Having spent 15 years in China it is always with a degree of trepidation that I go to a Chinese restaurant in a country town. There is always the expectation that the food has been modified to suit the local taste and bears no resemblance to Chinese food as eaten in China. The Emperor's House was a pleasant surprise. We ordered fairly highly having eaten about mid afternoon and this was only a few hours later. As one of our party is a duck/chicken/squab carnivore we ordered the roast duck. A dish that I have rarely seen in foreign restaurants is the Lions Head meatball. In addition we ordered a bok choy and mushroom vegetable dish. The duck was OK as duck dishes go without being outstanding. The Lion's Head meatballs were excellent with just the right amount of Shanghai sweetness in the dish. The bok choy was outstanding with the mushrooms adding terrific taste very similar to what I have also eaten in Shanghai.I would happily eat there again.
My husband and I went to this restaurant and enjoyed a beautiful meal. We ordered the as crunchy lotus root crisps (huge bowl), steamed seafood soup for 2, mixed tempura vegetables, pork mince with chilli, basil, pickle on bed of rice. The lotus root crisps were delicious, as were the tempura vegetables and the chilli dish were all delicious. The soup was beautiful in flavour but not quite what we expected. The description says steamed seafood, chicken and a variety of mushrooms in a clear broth in a teapot for two. What came out was the tiniest of tiny teapots with a very small cup each to drink this soup from. We expected vegetables etc but it was just the broth. The menu did not make this clear and for $14 we were disappointed, but as I have said the flavour was tremendous.Service very good and ambience lovely.

We went to this restaurant 10/12/16 for dinner. It was very busy but managed to find a table for two. The menu was extensive and we were initially taken back by the prices- a bit more than usual Chinese meals but on looking around the restaurant we saw very satisfied customers and substantial portions so we thought we would go ahead and order our meal, My husband had chicken and sweetcorn soup (plenty of chicken and corn and very flavoursome) and I had the combination soup. Plenty of vegetables, meats etc but lacked a flavoursome stock (perhaps a few drops of sesame oil or soy may have improved the flavour but enjoyable all the same. We ordered the Cantonese Chicken, special fried rice and steak and vegetables in a garlic sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed all of these and left well fed, satisfied and enjoying the meal. Will return.
Gallo Asian Restaurant is the only place to get a taste of the authentic barbecue in Warrnambool. Crispy pork BBQ pork with a large range of Asian rice, noodles dishes available to fill the gaps. Take away/Dine in welcome
Amazingly good food. We got a Sauteed Beef, a Chicken Curry and a Nasi Goreng, and all 3 were superb, and cooked fresh. It was the nicest Nasi I have tried since visiting Indonesia.Highly recommended. thank you for your good feedback. We are very happy to hear you had a good time in our Restaurant

Having read some negative reviews we were a little hesitant to dine here, but since we'd had an enjoyable meal at Hao Kai years ago, we decided to come back - and were glad we did. The food was delicious and plentiful. We didn't try the soup but there was a very good selection of mains - the Mongolian chicken and the fried rice were particularly nice - and for dessert, both the fruits and icecream were fresh. Extremely good value for money. The dining space could use a little attention (unused hooks on the wall, speaker cables etc which make it look slightly run-down), but it's clean and cheery inside, and what we could see of the food preparation area looked very clean too. The buffet was under cover and hot, nothing was too greasy, and you can add your own sauces. The deserts were in a closed case that was adequately refrigerated - in short, everything you'd want from an all-you-can-eat at a terrific price for Australia (we paid $16.20 at dinner, but I think it's only around $11 or $12 at lunch).
