The place is rather kitschy and not the cleanest but the food more than makes up for that. The tantanmen is spicy and tasty, with chewy, fat noodles with a lot of bite. The fried rice is good enough to eat on its own, and the cashew chicken is gorgeous. However, if you go to Hyakkotei and not order the sweet and sour pork balls (suu-buta), you are missing out on something great! Tender pork deep fried until the outside is crisp, then smothered in a delectable blanket of sweet and sour sauce made of black vinegar (there are two kinds, the other one is the usual red sauce sweet and sour pork). It is truly unforgettable. Best of all, everything is reasonably priced!

If this is the same restaurant as in the Hotel next to tsukuba.Went there for business. Food alright but nothing to shout out about, good drinks, but be warned - not for animal-eco conscious people. Make sure that you don't have the shark fin soup.
