Tangshan (Chinese: 唐山; pinyin: Tángshān) is a largely industrial prefecture-level city in northeastern Hebei province, China. It has become known for the 1976 Tangshan earthquake which measured 7.8 on the Richter scale, flattening much of the city and killing at least 255,000 residents according to official estimates. The city has since been rebuilt, has become a tourist attraction and has among the 10 largest ports in China.

This is a really bad example of an international, chinese hotel. NO ONE speaks or understands english. The rooms are OK, the shower a bit small and you feel like your sitting on an airplane toilet. The breakfast is... better not speak about it, bring your own!But the breakfast takes place in the revolving restaurant on top of the building, so its nice to sip a tea and have a look at parts of the city.Internet is slow, but free. No wifi at all. TV is new and has one english channel. I think it was the weather channel....Do not use the laundry service! Your clothes may return a size smaller including a nice chemical odor. I slept in worse locations, but to announce it as a four star, international hotel is over the top. Two star chinese bussiness hotel is more the case.Since 2012 there is a Starbucks and Wanda Place Shopping Mall just on the other side of the street.

Traditional Tangshan food, this is where the locals go. Traditional round table service, excellent food and service. You can bring your own drink as well. For a true traditional experience, buy a bottle of Baijiu from the market and take it to the restaurant. The staff will speak Chinese, the menu is in Chinese, but it does come with pictures. In my opinion a must do, as this is the most popular restaurant in Tangshan.

This place does food that is standard Chinese fare. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. It is still worth a try. Service was fine.
