Things to do in San Bruno
This place had an excellent reputation with the hotel we were staying at as a place for sushi and the like. They highly recommended a visit. Two of us had the sushi to start then we had numerous Chinese dishes including chicken and beef and dumplings between the four of us. All excellent. Do not be put off by the fact there are not many people inside. In fact for some of the time we were the only ones there on a Thursday evening around 8 pm. You can also get a take away.

My flight from East coast delayed and arrived at SFO around 22:00. We couldn't find any restaurant inside the airport and finally found this restaurant in San Bruno. It opens 23:30 and very helpful for people arriving at the airport late at night like us. We are also aware that the ranking of this restaurant is better than others in that area. It's one of the last resorts for travelers who use SFO and miss dinners in the night.

There are several Chinese eateries on the San Mateo Ave. This one was chosen due to its non-typical Chinese take-out menu. It turns out their food does carries good flavor, especially "Beef with Sichuan Garlic Sauce", the best of our dinner. We wanted to have streamed fish. Unfortunately they have live catfish only. We have doubt about steamed catfish, but decided to try. Well they did great job in preparing and cooking, but the texture of catfish is just not good for steaming. It's too hard and coarse. Overall, we think this is a good place that deserve a second try. We ordered one appetizer, one fish, one beef, one stir-fried vegetable, one soup, one bowl of rice, one pot of tea to share. Total $66 for a dinner for two.The portion is medium and the price is very good.

Usually there is not much to review on a fast food place at a local suburban mall. But I feel I should do one and give it a 5 star rating.I work in the same mall as the restaurant. When I didn't bring lunch that day I would get my lunch at Panda Express. And last Thursday I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they were having a Guest Appreciation Day and offering a free 2 entrée meal with a purchase of a 2 or 3 entrée meal. The place is always busy and there is always a line around lunch and dinner time. So they really don't have do this promotion to get extra business but they did. I was impressed. It is not exactly Koi Palace of Daly City or Flower Lounge of Millbrae. But the food is more than decent and they taste good. The workers are friendly and pleasant. By giving up a little extra profit, they gained a customer, yours truly, for life.

Grand Palace is a dim sum and seafood restaurant located in the heart of downtown South San Francisco. We are conveniently located in proximity to SFO, and Caltrain stations.
My friend and I stopped in for a Dim Sum lunch. Restaurant was not crowed when we arrived and we were seated quickly. Largest dim sum selection I have every seen. No steam cart - one just orders off a menu. One peeve.... as the only non-Asian guests in the restaurant, service was not outstanding. Other Asian guests arriving much later than us were served more quickly and with a smile. Food was quite good - and we ordered 8 different small plates. Price was $44 w/o tip.

Continues w/ notably good quality, large individual dumpling sizes compared to other Dim Sum place between SF and mid-peninsula, and clientele mostly Asians, a good sign. To avoid heavy noon-ish crowds, even mid-week, would arrived before 12noon.

A combination of Sichuan and other Chinese food. They do make the dishes very spice and hot. Staffs are courteous and foods are service soon after our order. They even make Sichuan stretched noodles in the restaurant, which is interesting to see. However, their menu mixes Sichuan and non-Sichuan dishes. You might be mistaken all of the spicy foods are Sichuan. They are actually not. Better go with someone who can tell the difference. They do not accept American Express card.

I found this restaurant on Yelp due to the number of stars that was posted. It is not your typical chinese restaurant but very popular as there was definitely a waiting list at 6pm. We ordered noodles and a beef dish but looked around at other plates and they seem to be very popular with their signature dishes. If you are looking for your typical chinese restaurant with Wonton Soup, this is not your place, but if you are looking for a different type of chinese Hunan Style, definitely a place to try. Food was very tasty, friendly staff, and quick service. Portions are family style.Thank you for your business. We are always here to deliver 5-star service and food. If there was something that we could've done to improve your experience, please drop me a quick email at [email protected]. Thank you and see you next time.
