There is no menu at this popular restaurant. There are tanks of fish and other seafood in the entrance and people waiting to take your order before you are seated in one of the two dining rooms dkwnstairs or private rooms upstairs. Everything is and tastes very freshly prepared - jumbo prawns, pork with mushrooms, amazing sweet and sour fish (a local speciality), or just steamed with ginger and lemongrass if you prefer something lighter. The emphasis is on fresh seafood but they do have many other options, some of which you can see on the window looking in to the kitchen. An excellent choice in Chaozhou and very good value. We ate four times on our recent visit! They don't speak a word of English so come with phrase book or translator and you'll be fine.

I had about 1/2 dz meals there, lunch and dinners. Staff was friendly and quite patient with our inability to communicate. There are pictures with the menu, but even so, you can't always guess what you get. All in all, I found the quality of the meals, as compared to the big Guangzhou Buddhist Restaurant rather disappointing. Quite edible, but most meals nothing special. The tea barely drinkable. The fake meats were quite nice, but as a solo traveller, who could only order one of their rather big meals, they only contained very little veges. Just everything was a bit boring. The dumplings though we're bad....Still, as a vegetarian in Chaozhou, I was grateful for its existence.
Guangxi, China Food Guide: 5 Cafe food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Beiliu
I normally live in Guangzhou where the food aren't really tasty for me. However, when I went to Chaozhou and ate at this restaurant, I felt like this is the ideal Chinese food I was looking for, as Chaozhou itself is well-known for its delicious food. This restaurant is also in the opposite side of the road of Kaiyuan temple, which is a famous attraction. The price is quite modest, just 20-30 yuan per dish, and they serve free desserts! Don't miss this gem if you're a vegetarian.
It was so yummy...u never been to Shantou if u never EAT goose meat..This restaurant is recommended by my driver Chen sifu..when we arrive, already a big crowd of tourist outside the restaurant..so worried no seats...Order was fast n u can see range of duck meat to spare parts and seafood spread to order... huge variety to feed the hungry crowd..We had duck meat, wings n liver.. the best parts is not the duck meat but the duck inner parts..liver a must have.Vegetable was super fresh n tasty..Our meal of 6 dishes cost RMB240 which was pretty reasonable..You can even vacuum pack the duck for take away...This restaurant food is so memorable to me.....
