Unfortunately, the quality of the food here has gone down a bit. It used to be the best New York style Chinese food in the area, but the last couple of times I have ordered take out, I have been disappointed. While everything seems fresh and made to order, I have found the food flavorless, like the Hot & Sour soup- which I use to rate a good restaurant- was thin and literally had no flavor- neither hot nor sour. The fried rice the same- no flavor. I am not sure what they have done to cause this, but I will be trying another Chinese take away in the meantime...
We've eaten here several times over the past couple years, and the food is never the same quality twice in a row. When it first opened/our first visit, it was amazing. Since then, the quality of the food has been anywhere from terrible to pretty good. The main reason we keep coming back is because it's nearly impossible to get good Chinese food anywhere in lake county. My question is, do Chinese restaurants think that the average person cannot tell the difference between freshly cooked and reheated chicken? Because first of all, we definitely can tell the difference. And secondly, I take it as a personal insult when I'm served hours (days?) old chicken, re-heated and then charged full price for it. When this happens, I put that restaurant on my "naughty list' and I don't return for months, if ever. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say it is very tiring when you get Chinese food cravings but can never know for sure whether or not you will receive fresh food.
Where to eat Asian food in Mount Dora: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Sorry, since my wife is the one who picks up the takeout: I posted this to the wrong restaurant by accident. Since we eat out every night, it becomes economically unfeasible to eat at 4 and 5 Star Restaurants nightly....even IF Mount Dora HAD more then ONE 5Star restaurant ! :) This little piece of China is located adjacent to Golds Gym on Hwy. 441and has been in Mt. Dora since China established a relationship with Walmart. We order Take-Out here at least 3-5 times a month. So often, the Owner calls my wife by name. The only bad meal I ever had was ONCE , when the Celery wasn't cooked enough and I felt like a cat with a hairball. One tends to eat from the Bottom of the Menu UP so, it's hard to break the Moo Goo Gaipan, Chicken Chow Mien or Cashew Chicken Habit. I just wanted to simply write this review to tell you- EXPLORE The Top Half. It's really excellent ! And, this is the Best Chinese Take-out In Mount Dora!FYI: The Title Reads: "May Your Fortune Cookie Always Be Blessed With Good News"
