Things to do in Meriden
Oh my. I was going to try some place new in Meriden, based on it's reviews. But they said it was going to take an hour and a half to deliver. (It's 4 miles from my house. Go figure) So I come back to my old standby, Dragon Phoenix. And am I ever glad I did. They took my order, and did it to exact specifications. I mean, hold the scallions, peppers. Little oil. Make the beef with broccoli extra spicy. Forty five minutes? No problem. Please take my card number over the phone, thank you! And it was delivered in 30 minutes. Nice, perfectly cooked meaty bone-in ribs, pork egg roll, chicken with cashew nuts. No peppers, no scallions. No onions. Beef very nicely spicy with broccoli, no scallions, little oil. And nice delivery lady, extra tip! Very nicely appreciated, came out in nasty nasty weather. Dragon Phoenix, I'll not doubt you again. Thank you!
Most Popular American food in Meriden, Connecticut, United States
I went here with a friend on another friends recommendation. Although the dining area is on on the small side we were seated comfortably. They were also very busy with many take out orders. The food is incredible. A delightful surprise especially as neither of us had the entrees we ordered before. I had the Pad Thai, my friend the Filipino Beef Adobo. We wanted to be adventuress. We would both order them again in a heart beat. Every item is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. It tells in the taste. The crispy spring rolls were excellent along with their wonton soup which was loaded with fresh vegetables in a very tasty broth. They have Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Filipino, Thailand and Vietnamese dishes on the menu. Looking forward to a visit in the very near future to try something else. Confidently located not far from the East Main Street exits from I91, Route 15 and I691. A great stop whether one is local to the area or a traveler. Do try them out, you wonât be disappointed.
Xing Long is probably one of the longest family run Chinese restaurants in Meriden. They specialize in Szechuan- and Cantonese-style take-out food. Catering is also available. It is in the far corner of Centennial Plaza, almost being overlooked, but never disappointing! I've been a patron for about fifteen years now. We've recently been hooked on #3 of their Chef's Specials on the wall board inside, I think it's called Sweet and Sour Eggplant? It is one of the, if not the most delicious item I've ever ordered from a Chinese restaurant! So tender and flavorful, melts in your mouth and bursts with savor! The potion will feed you for probably three days. The container is absolutely brimming with marinated eggplant cooked to perfection, comes with a generous helping of white rice, fortune cookies for each, and if you're lucky, they'll throw in some delicious crunchy noodles which go wonderfully with those packets of sweet orange sauce. It is family run, so I do believe they may only take cash. I've only ever brought cash out of courtesy, but there is a Stop and Shop in the plaza which does not charge for cash back, so buy a candy bar to get cash back if need be!The owners, I'm sure, have had to go through a lot of headaches and grief given the location, so come in with a smile, kindheartedness, and respect, and they will treat you the same and cook you up a delectable meal!
There are plenty of take out Chinese places with in a mile of this one, but I always come back here. I've tried all the ones in the area and this one is bar far the best.Food is always really fast and fresh. The owner and family always give you a smile.I've never had delivery so I can't speak for that, but pick-up is quick and the staff is very efficient. They recently remodeled and moved next door. The new location is visually a huge improvement compared to the last, but the food has always been great. I've been coming here for years.Parking can be tricky on a busy day, but worth the hassle. The portions are great and the prices are more than fair.

We stopped by here after running about all afternoon. We were pleasantly surprised by the selection offered. It offers something for every taste. I started by making a round of the buffet tables and found many items to my liking. The food was fresh and well made. I also did some sampling of the Sushi bar and found them to be very tasty. They do prepare hibachi style cooking. You get to pick which items you'd like prepared and they cook it up for you. The servers were pleasant and the restaurant was very clean. The prices are very reasonable. I think you'll have a very good experience if you give them a try

We had to find a new Chinese restaurant after the one we had used for years was sold & two disappointing take outs. Ting Ho is a treasure. Very friendly voice taking our order. The food was delivered HOT. The food was great, very tasty. Best we have had for years here, a gem. We will definitely order again and also stop by. Great reference from the Meriden Chamber of Commerce.
It was the nearest place to our hotel and we didn't know what to expect. We ate chicken korma and chicken tikka masala, and it was amazing, spicy and tasty. Service was very good also. If you happen to pass by, don't hesitate and get in.
