My son and I came here for an early dinner on Saturday night after realizing that the choices for eating well without paying a fortune were limited in Littleton. The previous reviews of Jing Fong were admittedly a turnoff to me, but I was encouraged me to have an open mind, especially since the restaurant was conveniently located to our downtown stroll, and the Thai restaurant we would have chosen was visibly overpriced.Before committing to taking a table, we checked out the buffet which didnât wow either of us, but for $11.95, we assumed there would be at least a few salvageable items that could constitute a meal. The hostess could have been nasty about our reluctance, but she wasnât. I guess Jing Fong is in the âtry harderâ mode in response to negative criticism, and given the âNewâ in the restaurant title, Iâm now wondering if itâs also because management has changed hands and needs to rectify a bad situation they inherited.What I can say about the buffet is that itâs among the most Americanized Chinese buffets in my travels. This is definitely not the place for authentic Chinese food, but our meals actually werenât too bad after all. The hot & sour soup, for me always a litmus test for acceptable quality, was about a 7 on a scale of 1-10, so it passed the first critical Cherry Wonderdog test. The menu assured us that no MSG was used in the cooking â allowing Jing Fong to pass test #2. There was at least one decent vegetable dish â stir-fried green beans, test #3, and at least one semi-healthy âmeatâ dish that I didnât feel guilty about eating â chicken with broccoli, in which the chicken wasnât rubbery like other places. Four passing grades!Nevertheless, I would be hard pressed to make this a regular dining joint if I lived in the area, because I demand more from a Chinese restaurant. For one night, it was perfectly satisfactory. The buffet featured a smorgasbord of Chinese and American specialties, juxtaposed if not merged as if to combine the best of both worlds. Yes, there was wonton soup with help yourself wontons, but the wontons didnât nearly have the soft texture Iâm used to getting elsewhere. Eggs rolls and spare ribs for appetizers? Sure, but do we really need fried onion rings and chicken fingers? Pigs in a blanket? Braised beef brisket? Stir fried artificial crab meat with cheese and vegetables? No thank you. Even the shrimp cocktail seemed out of place, with undersized unshelled shrimp showing mysterious black markings underneath. Conversely, the sautéed mushrooms with bacon were surprisingly good!Service was decent but nothing exceptional. The waiters talked a big talk (âYou betcha!â âOf course!â) when we ordered, but there was little table service to remove dirty plates, and we had to pay at the counter. Itâs also another ignorant establishment that continues to dispense plastic straws without regards how 500 million of them being consumed every day by Americans contributes to polluting our oceans, endangering marine life, and suffocating seabirds. Watching others âtake outâ their buffet in Styrofoam containers and pay by the pound was perhaps the clincher in terms of how I felt about Jing Fong â this was a restaurant to wolf down mediocre food and get out quick with the comfort of knowing you werenât going to starve even though your body might not like it in the long-term.

Recently had luncheon special. Great value for money, quiet place, friendly service.Loved Egg Drop Soup (very nice flavor, some vegetables in it and generous serving cup), General Gau chicken was freshly made (crispy coating and sauce was spicy sweet not pasty). Will definitely go again.

this was a random choice & very tasty. the building is nothing special & looks tired on the inside. but the food is good & large portions. the eggs rolls are fresh tasting. I had the sesame chicken & Jeff the broccoli beef. we could have split 1 order & still have left-overs.
