I went to the Blue Orchid takeaway this evening and noticed that the next-door Blue Orchid restaurant is now closed and completely empty, with a sad notice on the door. I am a fan of the takeaway's smoked shredded chicken and latterly chicken in black bean sauce, and chicken with vermacelli. I find the staff always polite and efficient, and I hope they carry on.

We always preferred this restaurant for the all you can eat. But our recent visit was not as expected. The room was cold the decor had dated, and the service was slower. The food was ok, but all the ribs were not fresh, had been warmed up and the meat was hard. A shame as the staff our very nice. There seemed to be more of an interest in the take away service. £4.20 for a pint of the cheap Carsberg seemed a bit steep.

I ordered from here for myself, my daughter and my mother. I'm the only vegetarian one but we all enjoyed it so much. Non greasy and cooked lovely. Fast delivery and so friendly.

I came here for a take away. The service was friendly and able to talk about the menu. There was a large selection of dishes which was great to see.The chicken main course was good. I was very disappointed in the salt and pepper squid. It was duty and very chewy.

Chinese New Year and a last-minute decision to find a decent Chinese restaurant within 20 minutes of Stroud. Shanghai had good reviews so we booked a table and half an hour later, we had arrived, parked easily in their private car park and were looking through the extensive menu. With a fixed price all-you-can-eat menu there were sensible suggestions to avoid over-ordering (and thereby avoiding food waste). Ordered from the menu with waiter service, everything brought freshly cooked and hot - and very delicious. If you are vegetarian, thereâs a decent choice of tofu and veg dishes, while meat and fish lovers are spoiled for choice. Good Chinese beer too. Definitely a place to visit again.

I went in here on Sunday 4th of August for my birthday meal. There were 14 of us and they were fantastic. The food was always freshly cooked and staff were friendly.When I booked the table I was told to pay £5 deposit per person to hold the table, I simply explained to the person that I could not afford to pay for this, he assured me and allowed me not to have to pay this. They were brilliant, can't fault them.
