If you've followed my exploits through my various reviews, you'll know that I had a hard time getting a decent meal in Shandong during out tour of the province late last year. Following, yet another banquet that was, frankly, disgusting, some of us took off soon afterwards and found this place, GaoDi Jie 56Hao, not too far from the hotel we were staying in.It was a pretty nice venue, with private rooms, and when being shown to our room, we saw some other people from out tour group gagging for some decent food too. The place styles itself on Hong Kong, so you'll see lots of Hong Kong images on the walls and on the menus. We didn't order too much, but what we did have was great. Between us we ordered a plate full of chinese pastries which included some awesome char siu baos, egg tarts, and some dubious durian pastries (I'm far from being a fan of durian). We also ordered some ho fun noodles with slices of beef so tender that they just melted in your mouth. It wasn't a huge meal, and it didn't cost too much, though I can't remember what we paid exactly. So, decent food, decent price, what more do you need?
