This is a 3.5 Star review.Been a long time since I'd come here and had an enjoyable lunch recently. They have lunch specials that includes soup and egg rolls. The soup was actually tasteless sadly, the egg rolls were surprisingly good and I don't even usually like them. My entree Basil leaves with Shrimp and it was pretty good. Friend got the Vermicelli dish but it was with spaghetti noodles instead so that was very disappointing. She did like the Lychee Mango Smoothie

Seeker of the authentic culinary experience finds a variety of world cuisine in Evanston. Unfortunately, Koi serves a version of Asian food, somewhat adapted for American clientele that is diluted on flavor, and presentation. In our particular case, the service matched the underwhelming food in being numb and uninterested in the guest experience.Iâm so sorry to hear your unfortunate dining experience at koi. I apologize for the service team not helping you making the right food order. We have been service the community for over 15 years and proud of serving authentic Chinese food and fresh sushi. I would love to invite you back as my guest, please kindly email me [email protected] Chen Owner

Ordered orange beef and chinese broccoli dishes. OK, but nothing special. Tried crispy sweet potato dessert, which I'd pass next time. A nice dining option that I'd give 3.5 stars to if I could--much better choices in Evanston, but not Chinese. So if you've got a yen for that cuisine, it's a decent option. Good service. Nice ambiance.

Still searching for a good Chinese place to replace our former love, we tried Little Wok after glowing recommendations from the in-laws and friends... both of whom enjoy bland Mexican food..... and that's what we found here. The food was piping hot, portions huge but the food only tasted like hot peppers..... The search for a good egg-roll continues - their version felt very similar to a frozen egg-roll.... no identifiable vegetable or meat - some kind of shredded cabbage. Worse yet the sweet and sour sauce and mustard came in packets.....The Orange Chicken pieces were large, fried ok but other than the red peppers, not much flavor. The Mongolian Beef meat was among the best quality but they cheaped out and instead of Green onion/scallions, went with yellow onions of little flavor. The Kung Pao chicken was ok but the veggies seemed canned, bland and again only peppery. The Cashew chicken was as advertised - nothing special but a decent dish.No Moo Shu options, no Egg Foo Young..... other Thai, Korean and other optons. Jack of many trades Master of none? We'll try other places but if you like traditional bland Chinese this offers and very decent value.
Excellent surprise hidden in an office building..... and a very enjoyable lunch- despite the jackhammers outside! For $12 I got a bowl of excellent coriander soup with some crispy, tasty veggies, a spring roll which was veggie but had a delicious almost tempura coating and lemon flavoring and Chilli Chicken with rice and kimchi. I asked for it to be mild and it was milder, than my buddyâs which was 8/10spicy while mine was 6/10 hot. The main also came with a nice sauce, generous serving of rice, and some intermittently hot kimchi.Everyone there was helpful, kind and pleasant. They even gave a discount for all the noise which wasnât their fault!Definitely will return!
