The main problem with a lot of these old Americanized chop suey houses is NOT that they offer inauthentic, watered-down Chinese food (although that is usually the case); the problem is that the food is often badly and lazily prepared, thrown together under the belief that naive white folks will eat ANYTHING so long as it's smothered in enough sweet and sour sauce. This place in El Centro has all the old-school American'Chinese favorites, but makes a real effort to do them right. The result is some very tasty and plentiful food. We had the sizzling shrimp, chicken curry, and fried rice -- all of which were hot, plentiful and tasty. Service and atmosphere were also friendly and efficient. If this is a style of Chinese food you like, then China Palace does it quite well.

Clean, spacious, and with a large group of efficient servers and host. The lunch menu is reasonably priced and the portions are huge - even the small soup is larger than expected. Food was quickly prepared and served, and our server was very attentive. Great alternative to all of the fast food restaurants in the area.

Lucky Chinese Restaurant

Went there for a business lunch. We ordered the family dinner combo. Very reasonable, about $14 a head. And then they brought out the food, and kept bringing, and kept bringing, and then they brought out some more. If you walk out of this place hungry, it's your own fault. The food was not bad, typical American Chinese food, decent quality and flavor. Overall, I would go there again.

THE COOKING FOOD IS GOOD, sushi is not very good, I like only the rolls, THEY use the IMITATION CRAB a lot too fill the rolls, SAN DIEGO sushi are much better.THE FISH portion they put is very THING.also they don,t sell beer or wine . so its not good for go dining and stay. Having been a steady customer of Maw’s Kitchen for a couple of decades, what I joyously viewed as a local Dive slid to a Greasy-Spoon and finally to Greasy, Greasy-Spoon status.Ambiance: The outside of the restaurant has survived the past half century with nominal maintenance. The main entrance door remains held shut with a piece of cardboard taped to the door sill. Inside, two steps to the right I noted stacks of dirty dishes overflowing the sink and counter. Next to the dishes were piles of boned leg and thigh meat equally overflowing the conjoined counter.The service area walls, shelves and cabinets are plastered with taped-up menu items and other documents in varying degrees of decomposition and age. The entire area reminds me of a third-grade art class gone wild. The dining room walls were recently refurbished with what appears to be mustard-colored paint bought on close-out at the local Dollar Store. It was surely painted by the younger siblings of the interior decorators.Cleanliness: Dirty doesn’t quite describe the dining room; filthy might come closer. As we ate dinner last night, the two servers sat, gossiped, texted, and telephoned. The soiled flatware and dirty napkins on the floor didn’t seem to draw their attention. Perhaps the turning point in my long-standing love for my Dive was when my shirt sleeve kept sticking to the table top as I diligently wiped the accumulated grime from the various accouterments. Much like researchers tracing the age and history of trees by reviewing their growth rings, the same could be true for diners reviewing the rings of food build-up on the bottles and jars. The soy sauce bottle was so sticky with greasy that when I picked it up it wouldn’t let go of me. As an unconfirmed thought, the greasy atmosphere might simply be a byproduct of the third grade engineering team wiring the exhaust fan to become a recirculating fan instead. Food: Last night I swore off what I had thought and widely proclaimed the best Chinese food in El Centro; fresh Ingredients prepared fresh for each customer in copious amounts at a reasonable price. Their soups are especially delicious as is every menu item I have eaten. I want my Dive back. Would it be possible for management to simply implement a few changes to get out of the greasy, greasy-spoon pit before it and their remaining diners are buried alive?
